In 1979, the Zonin family acquired Castello di Albola situated in Radda at the heart of the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation. The estate has earned various accolades for its wines. The grapes for this wine was grown in the Angove Familys certified organic Nanya vineyard in Paringa, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the mighty River Murray. 15+ year old vines growing in deep, light sandy loam over a bed of limestone on gently undulating east-west ridges. Pale salmon pink with fresh cherry, watermelon and blueberry aromas that lead to cherry, red berry flavours and a clean finish.

The Portrait wines embody the original promise Peter Lehmann made to the growers to make wines that show the true character of the Barossa. Collectively, these wines present a portrait of the region with a selection of the traditional varietals that made it famous. A vivacious wine, with balance and structure, made from dry grown low-yielding bush Grenache and a touch of Shiraz. The colour is a delicate salmon pink with an aroma of early picked raspberries and strawberries. It is a refreshing, dry Rosé style ideal for casual sipping or as an accompaniment to lighter food dishes - served lightly chilled and drink it while it is young and fresh.

A fruit driven mid palate is laden with red cherry, plums and raspberries. The wine has a long, crisp and refreshing finish due to the Cabernets firm and youthful grape tannin framed with elegant and spicy oak. A great drinking wine of complexity and substance.

Cassis, dark plum and obviously Blackberry fruits aligning with enveloping, refined-yet-generous Cigar Box tannins. This is accented with perfumed cedary notes derived from the oak our wine is matured in. The result; a wine with elegance and poise. The fruit for Blackberry Patch comes from one block in the heart of the Langhorne Creek and another in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of the McLaren Vale. Primary fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel vats and 5 tonne open fermenters after which the wine is assembled into tank and allowed to complete a natural malo-lactic fermentation before being pressed off. It is then transferred to new & well-seasoned hogsheads and aged for up to12 months prior to bottling with minimal filtration. This results in a wine with purity of fruit that is regal and eminently satisfying to allow for regular indulgence. Zontes Footstep is a proudly independent Australian wine producer established in 2003. Their grapes are sourced from their own, as well as their neighbours' vineyards, from regions that produce the desired expressive, varietal characteristics of the grapes grounded by the soil they are planted in. Located in the McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Adelaide Hills, the Barossa and further afield. The name comes from a mixture of things. In 1893 a vineyard was planted with Zante currant to produce table grapes for the growing population of Adelaide. In the 1920s the vineyard was replanted with wine producing varieties of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon which were eventually used to make the first Zonte's wine. As a tribute to the journey of the grapes in the vineyard (and because you arent legally allowed to mention a grape variety unless its contained in the wine) it was decided to change the A to an O ZONTES sufficiently similar. Then in1999, the vineyard was purchased and a plan to plant Viognier, Sangiovese and other new and exciting grape varieties was undertaken. Whilst replanting the vineyard some large boulders with footprints were discovered from the largest known marsupial to have ever lived, the Diprotodon. It was this unique fossilised FOOTSTEP that cemented the name and the journey of Zonte's Footstep was begun. Their aim is the diligent pursuit of producing wines that reflect a sense of place, style and purpose.

The wine is dark plum with lifted complex oak aroma. The palate has full flavour with rich berry fruit, warm, rich and intense. Upfront and splendidly appealing, the wine shows blackberry, sweet cherry, rich floral and vanillin oak notes, followed by a beautifully weighted palate that's plump and juicy, finishing lingering and silky. It's splendidly fragrant and enticing with dark plum, cherry, clove and toasted almond notes, leading to a beautifully rounded palate displaying fleshy texture and silky flow. Appearance: bright On Nose: floral and fruity, zinc oxide-inflected, with generous, slightly green aromas of fresh herbs, pepper, cordite and black cherry fruit On Palate: peppery, light and acid high and juicy Mouthfeel:, smooth, lively, medium weight, a bit thin and fairly tart-edged with crusty tannin.
