Penfolds Lunar New Year Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Outstanding

Penfolds Lunar New Year Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2019 The great Australian blend from the great Australian winery, the Penfolds Bin 389 is often called Baby Grange. These big babies are dressed to celebrate Lunar New Year with a specially designed label and presentation box. Lunar New Year, Year of the Tiger magnums are strictly limited, only available while stocks last. Whether you give this as a gift to others or to your own cellar, it's a must share with friends and family over dinner. Buy two and open one this year and then a second in twelve years time when the year of the tiger rolls around once more. Bin 389 is the quintessential expression of the Penfolds red wine style. Typically it is fresh, generous and buoyant with ripe dark chocolate, dark berry fruit, beautifully extracted flavours, fine-grained tannins and underlying new oak characters. First produced in 1960, Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz is nicknamed Poor Mans Grange or Baby Grange and is one of Australias great cellaring red wines. Bin 389 is matured in a combination of new and one and two year old American "ex Grange and Bin 707" hogsheads for 18 months. The best vintages can develop and improve for decades.

Shangri-La Ao Yun Cabernet Cabernet Franc,

Luring luxury connoisseurs from around the globe, this Chinese red is making waves internationally for being the first legitimately competitive high-end wine to come out of the countrys developing wine production industry. Its production is a long, complex story of cooperation between the CEO of Moët Hennessy, Australian enologist Tony Jordan, the Chinese government and Tibetan farmers - and its yielded something spectacular. The name Ao Yun means roaming above the clouds - and the name is apt, as the vineyards which produce it rise up to 2,600 metres at the foot of a sacred mountain in Yunnan province, not far from the famed city of Shangri-La on the fringe of the Himalayas. This spellbinding terrain has produced a wine of powerful flavour, complex spice, and a silky texture with tannin to spare and massive aging potential. Dont miss your chance to own a piece of wine-making history from a nation with the potential to become a powerhouse.

Matthiasson Phoenix Vineyard Cabernet

MATTHIASSON Phoenix Vineyard Cabernet, Napa Valley The Phoenix Vineyard was planted back in 1982 on the steep hillside above the winery. They used old heritage field selections of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Mattiasson converted to Organic Farming, planting new vines where some of the old vines had given up. The rock content and sea minerals of the soils create unique wines with high-toned red fruits, perfumed and exotic, with a lightness in the mid-palate yet a long, firm, and structured finish. Its singular enough, yet complete enough, to be worthy of a single vineyard designation.
