Cuvée de lAulne Gevrey-Chambertin A blend of grapes purchased from seven or eight growers, across 10 to 12 different communal parcels smattered throughout the village. Again, this is the approach that Ponsot advocates in order to glean the essence of the regional terroir, in this case that of a single lauded village. Red and dark fruit essences mesh with the smoked meat parlayed by Gevreys heavier, ferrous limestone. A richer wine in the context of Burgundy, without the edges and creases that need too much smoothing with time in the cellar. Accessible across the earlier to mid-term.

Eden Rift Lansdale Pinot Noir Dark and ripe yet silky and smooth, the Lansdale Pinot Noir is sourced from the propitiously sited Q-Block from the crest of the contiguous valley that comprises the Eden Rift estate. The wine is an intense inky hue with notes of black cherry, blueberry, sagebrush, and baking spices. Blackberry, cherry, earth, and oak flavours carry through to the palate with nice acidity and velvety tannins that lead to a long finish.

The fruit is sourced from a selection from their coastal vineyards, giving a window to the rugged hills of the westerly Sonoma Coast. Vibrant aromas of black and red cherry, rose petal, and black tea fill the bowl. Wild raspberry and just-ripe red plum notes give way to coastal moss, wet gravel and forest underbrush.
