The remnants of an ancient seabed formed the hard-packed Limestone base which atop sits the famous Coonawarra Red Terra-Rossa. Even today the marine life can be seen with the soft rock providing a natural filter for the water pooled in the aquifer below. A millennium in creation, it is these features combined that provide almost perfect conditions for premium grapes to grow. The ocean breeze still blows from the west providing the cool nights to compliment the warm days and development of flavour for our Coonawarra wines.

Producing the Quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon was one of Jim’s life-long endeavours. The wine has a deep purple and crimson colour with bright red hues. The Night Owl has lifted aromas of dark plum and blackberries covered with a blanket of fire toasted and chocolate oak. There is a depth of flavours with dark plum and forest fruits weaving through layers of mouth-coating yet fine tannins with pepper and spice mix holding through the finish.

A round rich palate with a good backbone of tight, but deliciously mouth-watering tannins. Generously flavoured but retaining elegance. Structured to age beautifully over the long term but round enough to be enjoyed while the primary fruits are fresh and vibrant.

The Rymill Coonawarra Classic Shiraz 2021 is a bold, full-bodied red wine from South Australia, crafted from 100% estate-grown, sustainably farmed Shiraz. Brimming with dark fruit, pepper, and spice, it delivers a rich palate of blackberries, chocolate, and earthy undertones wrapped in velvety tannins. Perfect with lamb, beef, or roasted vegetables, this refined Shiraz showcases the depth and character of Coonawarra’s renowned terroir.

The combination of a mature vineyard producing excellent quality Pinot Noir with naturally soft acidity and early harvesting to preserve pristine fruit characters produced a base wine with good varietal characteristics and structure.

Leconfield Coonawarra was established in 1974 by noted oenologist by Sydney Hamilton. Through Sydney's nephew, Dr Richard Hamilton, it remains a family wine estate renowned for the distinctive regional wine it produces. Cabernet Franc (along with Sauvignon Blanc) is an ancestor of Cabernet Sauvignon. Traditionally, it is renowned for producing subtle, elegant styles. Our Cabernet Franc, from one hectare planted in 1892, produces a fragrant wine during fermentation, reminiscent of rose blossoms. A richness of flavour with a silky texture and medium body. The rounded tannins provide a lovely persistence. Exquisite with almost any meal.
