La Posta Pizzella Malbec

Paula and Pablo Pizzella came on a journey from Buenos Aires just to seek a life of cultivating Argentinian malbec. Pretty impressive commitment, and their vineyard represents the same dedicated story. Sitting at around 1000 metres high (yep, grape vines are pretty hardy like that!) the grapes see a long ripening period, meaning fully concentrated flavour bomb. A blend of oak and stainless steel treatment post-fermentation enhances the gift of fruit purity, while ensuring that this wine has that extra level of balance to see it through a long life. It’s all about the density of plum, black cherry and violet now; give this baby a few years and it will no doubt show some graphite & meaty characteristics. The Pizzellas would want you to enjoy this with company, with abundance of food and conversations that stretch in to the late hours of the evening.

Eulen Malbec

Bodegas Bianchi Oasis Sur Malbec

We feel we have a weeknight ‘wine-down’ routine to recommend for you… If it’s been a long day and you feel the need to be whisked away to somewhere slightly more exotic, let us take you to Mendoza. All you have to do is twist off the top of a bottle of Bodegas Bianchi and splash yourself a glass. This is a blend of 90% malbec with a 10% dash of syrah to add lift and a broader fruit profile to flesh out more complexity. And it’s done rather impressively. Approachable and succulent flavours of plums, blackberries burst over the palate while subtle hints of dried herbs linger in the background and fine, soft tannins ensure a smooth finish to this bold and fleshy wine. Made for drinking now and in the short term, there’s no better time to pop the top off a bottle and enjoy Argentina’s finest variety.

Septima Malbec

It has a bright ruby red colour. It has a well-defined and persistent nose. It also has notes of plums and figs combined with the vanilla notes from oak ageing, making the wine pleasant and subtle. It is sweet and dense on the palate with an attractive mineral taste. It has a long and persistent finish with the delicate flavour of sweet blackberries. It is ideal to pair with red meats, game and gourmet dishes.

Zuccardi Serie A Malbec

Zuccardi Seria A Malbec is an excellent example of this variety which thrives in Argentina. Dark berries with a hint of pepper on the nose, and a spicy, well structured palate with a touch of oak.

Tilia Malbec

A brand new and exclusive Malbec that has just landed from Mendoza in Argentina. Perfect for your next BBQ, this medium-bodied red delivers plenty of rich fruit with a touch of spice.

The Waxed Bat

Sun, clear air, cool elevated vineyards and great winemaking skills give Argentina all the ingredients for world class wines. Joanna Simon says: "As a wine country, Argentina has everything going for it" (The Sunday Times). The Waxed Bat is a triumphant creation from our good friend Opi Sadler, winner of two international Trophies to date, and winemaker at Andean Vineyards. The wine's name was inspired by memories of his grandfather's cellar - wine bottles sealed with heavy red wax and an occasional bat fluttering in the lamp light. Spicy, liquorice scented Shiraz, cassis laden Cabernet and dense Malbec create power and complexity. Smooth enough to drink on its own and terrific with spare ribs, steak or kebabs. Decant an hour in advance.
