Juniper Estate’s Cornerstone Cabernet is a benchmark expression of Wilyabrup, crafted from vines planted on free-draining gravelly soils at the heart of Margaret River. The vineyard’s coastal influence brings cool nights and warm days, producing fruit with natural balance and structure. Each parcel is fermented separately before undergoing extended maceration to build depth and complexity. The wine then matures in French oak barriques, with a careful balance of new and seasoned barrels, allowing the character of the site to shine. Cornerstone Cabernet consistently offers aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and dried herbs, alongside subtle cedar and tobacco notes from its time in oak. The palate is defined by fine, persistent tannins and layers of dark fruit, supported by bright acidity. A fine and quite flinty modern expression of Margaret River Chardonnay. Finer and leaner it might be in some ways, but the unmistakable power and persistence of the region still triumphs. Complex mealy grapefruit and roasted nut characters on the nose, and a deep and richly intense palate power through to the finish.

Cape Mentelle's Cabernet Sauvignon under the guidance of Rob Mann has become one of Australia's most prestigious Cabernet's. Sourced from what many believe to be the true home to Cabernet in Australia, the Margaret River, Cape Mentelle produce a wine that has a plush full-flavoured palate of concentrated blackcurrants and mulberries with a minerally spine. Richly textured and vibrant the palate finishes long with fine yet firm gravelly tannins. A superb candidate for some medium to long term cellaring.

Dense aromas of plum pudding, dried apricots and eastern spice introduce a voluptuous palate, boasting silky tannin, delicate hints of fresh summer berries and earthier tones of toasted oak and freshly cracked allspice. Labegorce is found just north of the town of Margaux, opposite Chateau Lascombes. It produces wines that are often favourably compared to its neighbouring classified Margaux Growths, but available for considerably less of an investment. Its instantly recognisable and iconic chateau was constructed in 1821, and the modern estate was purchased by Hubert Perrodo in 1989, now managed by his daughter Nathalie. The wine is typically made up of at least 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by slightly less Merlot and a small balance of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Soils here are primarily sandy gravel with small amounts of limestone.
