Another great success story of grape grower turned grower/winemaker. Troy Kalleske is the latest custodian of a family heritage that dates back to 1853 when the Kalleske family first planted vineyards in the Moppa sub-discrict of Greenock, in the north-west of the Barossa Valley. This Shiraz (with a touch of Viognier and Petit Verdot) is 100% biodynamic and has concentrated aromas of blueberry, cloves, violets and dried fig. The silken palate that follows has dark fruit and lifted notes of floral with a sublime length of flavour.

The palate is in the Hilltops medium bodied style and does not disappoint with lashings of juicy cherry fruit integrated with fine tannins throughout the palate and a fresh lingering acidity. The wine is combination of flavour, softness and lightness. Hungerford Hill is one of the Hunter Valley's great success stories. From our humble beginnings in the 1960s, we've grown over the past 50-odd years to incorporate the award-winning Sweetwater vineyard as well as the famous Dalwood vineyard, which is considered the birthplace of Australian wine and the country's oldest continually operating vineyard.

More about finesse and complextity than potency, this red reflects the Moorabool Valley's ability to produce a more refined style than most warmer regions. Picked from a wide cross-section of vineyards across the far reaches of the Hunter Valley. Whole-bunch pressed, directly transferred to French puncheons (40% new) ; a barrel selection was made with deliberate mlf; then matured 9 months with fortnightly batonnage. On the nose: Deluxe oak spice over vanilla, bergamot, red cherry and white pepper. On the palate: Flavour-packed with red and black fruits, lifted black pepper and herb spice, refined and satiny oak before a long finish.
