Saltram 1859 Barossa Shiraz

The palate is rich with an excellent balance of fruit flavours, subtle tannins and a soft, silky finish. We invite you to explore the Saltram winemaking tradition, crafted over 150 years, and exemplified today by their wines. This Barossa shiraz delivers lovely drinking right now. The makers used more stainless steel than oak in its production, thus capturing the vibrant, fleshy fruit flavours of the vintage. Soft tannins add to the fleshy texture and drink-now appeal.

Earthworks Barossa Tempranillo

Family owned and operated, Barossa earthworks make its wines from 100% Barossa grapes, grown at small family owned vineyards. Drawing on more than 160 years of local wine knowledge, traditional winemaking methods and minimal processing are used to preserve the purity, integrity, texture and flavour of the wines. Blood red in colour, Earthworks Tempranillo opens with boysenberry, pepper, a hint of charred meats and black forest cake aromas. The soft tannins spread over your palate giving a juicy, ferrous, velvet mouth feel, a must try in our opinion.

The team at St Hallett, headed up by Stuart Blackwell and Toby Barlow, have done a fantastic job with this shiraz, choosing the best grapes from the vineyards to create a wine that is lush with great depth of flavour.

The extensive finish is framed by elegant, fine-grained tannins from maturation in a combination of new and seasoned American and French oak barrels. Cosme Palacio Cosecha Rioja

Upon much deliberation, our overall masked winner revealed a style and character that provided us with a fairly clear cut insight into the modern day advances of a region etched in history and tradition. Cosme Palacio consistently produces one of our favourite Riojas that always offers incredible value for money. Produced predominantly from Tempranillo grown in cool, relatively high altitude sites, this is modern Rioja that's bright and ready to go thanks to a touch of bottle age. It's medium bodied with fine tannins and juicy in the mouth. Black fruits dominate the flavour profile with some delicate cedar and earthy notes adding complexity to a delicious example from this much loved region.

Macaw Creek Reserve Shiraz Cabernet

Macaw Creek Reserve Shiraz Cabernet is a complex blend of Shiraz and Cabernet grapes, resulting in a dark red hued wine. The attractive and vibrant bouquet gives way to a rich and fresh palate brimming with flavours of choc mint and ripe blackberry fruit coupled with vanillin and mocha oak notes. The fine and firm tannins fuse with these intense flavours to end in a delicate and persistent finish. Drink this full-bodied Shiraz Cabernet blend with barbequed rib eye or tomahawk steak to discover its full flavour potential.

Just like the noble creature, The Stag wines represent elegance, grace and esteem. Quintessentially Victorian, they are made in a classic cool climate style.
