The wine is immediately appealing on the nose showing brightly fruited notes of lemon peel, white fleshy nectarine and grapefruit with a subtle touch of sweet basil leaves. It is juicy and vibrant on the palate with youthful fruit intensity together with crisp acidity, finishing long and mouth-watering.

Pale yellow youthful green tinges, which I equate with quality young chardonnay. Aromatics are instantly very serious. Intense fruit nectarines and white peaches melding with lemon citrus beautiful French oak hovering just above the wine at the moment intense more than a cursory nod to Burgundy. The tiniest whiff of sulphides perfect for a wine of this age. When sipped, the wine shows its incredible intensity, no doubt derived from the very low yield.

2020 A mild 2020 spring with reasonable rainfall provided excellent growing conditions. A wet November followed by a warm and dry December and January set the vines for up for a regular season.However wet and humid conditions in February created an unusual vintage with extreme weather. As a result, the 2021 vintage required extra work and attention to detail in the vineyard. The final wines show incredible flavour at lower Baume’s with bright natural acidity. Great fruit purity and varietal expression.

Great fruit expression with creamy stone fruit and fresh apple melded with bright citrus with a hint of tropical fruit. Rich mouthfeel and rounded palate siplaying hints of vanilla and butterscotch. Winemaking:Mostle machine harvested at night with some early morning handpicked fruit. Pressed into stainless steel tanks to settle, then racked to barrel while still hazy for wild ferment, allowing natural expression. Aged in a mix of old and new French barrels, with some lees stirring to build up texture and creaminess. Barrels carefully selected and blended to create the desired Chardonnay.

The 2024 Pedestal Chardonnay from Margaret River, crafted by the renowned Larry Cherubino Wines in Western Australia, is a true masterpiece. A pale straw hue with golden highlights greets the eye, hinting at the wine's complexity and depth. On the nose, aromas of ripe peach, tropical fruits, and vanilla mingle with a touch of oak. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, with flavours of juicy pineapple, buttery toast, and a subtle hint of citrus. The judicious use of oak adds a delightful layer of complexity and structure. The finish is long and elegant, leaving a lingering impression of ripe fruits and a touch of minerality. Lenton Brae is a pioneer of this style in Margaret River and one of the benchmarks. Tropical and citrus fruit marries seamlessly with subtle oak giving the wine wonderful length and depth of flavour.

Delicate and gentle notes of cooler climate fruits fill the nose; wet stones, chalk, fine citrus zest and orange blossom. The palate is lissom and has a mineral water like weight as citrus fruits mingle with toasted nut-meal and caramel. A fine and soft acidity retains levity and gives length and crispness to finish this Chardonnay by Marchand and Burch.
