Brokenwood Forest Edge Chardonnay
Giesen Fuder Chardonnay Marlborough
Novum Riverbrook Vineyard Chardonnay
Crafted by Will and Rachel Hoare, Novum stems from decades of hands-on Marlborough experience, including a long stint managing the iconic Fromm estate. The Riverbrook Vineyard in Marlborough's Southern Valleys supplies the fruit, planted on clay-rich soils that naturally restrict yields and yield exceptional depth. In the winery, intervention stays low to let site character lead. Whole-bunch pressing, wild yeast fermentation, and ageing in French oak punch up texture without masking fruit purity. Malolactic fermentation is handled judiciously to preserve structural line and drive. Expect concentrated white peach, citrus rind, and crushed flint on the nose, leading into a tightly woven palate of nectarine, toasted hazelnut, and striking mineral acidity. It offers the tension of top-flight White Burgundy with distinct Marlborough clarity, making it an outstanding investment for any serious cellar.
Kooyong Chardonnay
Sandro Mosele continues to take Kooyong's estate wines to heights unseen for the price. Focus, linear acidity and supreme elegance are all hallmarks of Sandro's work and all can be seen here. Along with great precision, comes lovely fruit characters also that work with a whole range of Asian-fusion cuisine.
Petaluma Chardonnay
A complex array of melon fig and cashew aromas is followed by a typically elegant and subtle palate with beautifully integrated oak. Petaluma had set a benchmark in Australian Chardonnay.
Cloudy Bay Chardonnay
Cloudy Bay Chardonnay is a reflection of its sunny origin, expressing intense aromas of peaches, nectarines, aromatic herbs and biscuit. A light entry of stone fruit becomes a slippery mid-palate that re-focuses to an aromatic and mineral finish.
Flametree SRS Chardonnay
A fine and quite flinty modern expression of Margaret River Chardonnay. Finer and leaner it might be in some ways, but the unmistakable power and persistence of the region still triumphs. Complex mealy grapefruit and roasted nut characters on the nose, and a deep and richly intense palate power through to the finish.
Cape Mentelle Chardonnay
The citrus rind and grapefuit lead the palate to an overall fine yet textural journey. Cape Mentelle Chardonnay had this distinctive minerally line too, apparent with focussed refreshing acidity. Faint nuancesof soft nougat and cashews also add to what is a harmonious balance and an elegant and length finish.
Sidewood Mappinga Chardonnay
Medium straw in colour this wine by Sidewood displays lifted white peach, fig, pear and pistachio nuts on the nose. This barrel fermented Adelaide Hills Chardonnay offers superbly structured characters. It is tight and lean, laced with citrus lime and tropical fruit characters. Some lovely subtle complexities from careful oak maturation on lees include nutmeg, sage spice and pistachio flavours which linger on the after taste. A lovely crisp wine now, that will benefit from some short term cellaring once bottled. Serve with Asian style broth, mushroom based dishes or Lobster bisque is a great match to this Chardonnays complexity in flavour, but finesse in structure.
Deep Woods Reserve Chardonnay
Deep Woods Estate Reserve Chardonnay gives aromas of fresh stone fruit and citrus blossom combining with warm straw, cedar spice and chipped oyster shell. The Palate displays pure and elegant stone fruit, lime zest and jasmine. A fine acid backbone combines with lees-derived texture to produce a wine of depth, and complexity with an underlying minerality.
