Brackenwood is owned by Damon Nagel, who started life as a sommelier in Adelaide before moving to London in his mid-twenties, where he worked in several of Londons top restaurants. After a number of successful years he moved back to Australia, where he purchased a stunning property in the Adelaide Hills. Here he set about establishing the Brackenwood name. Damon has since employed Laz Horvath as winemaker. Laz was born and raised in Hungary and is a winemaker with extensive international experience. He has completed vintages in Europe (several in Burgundy), California, New Zealand and with Brackenwood in Australia since 2010. Laz lives on the Brackenwood property where he manages the vineyard and winery.

This is our first release of Barbera from TarraWarra Estate. We chose this variety for its inherent structure and intense flavour. It is ideally suited to the Yarra Valley, and we are very excited by this first release. The variety is thriving in its location, yielding a wine that is full flavoured, rich and long.

David Hook Barbera

What the Hunter Valley and David Hook does so very well - meduim bodied reds that have good savoury length and nice integrated tannins.

Patrizi Barbera d'Alba

Made in the traditional style with dark plum and spicy prune characters, its full, but lean and dry with a savoury finish. Barbera is versatile, able to go 'formal' for a braise of beef or as easily as a barbeque.

Fontanafredda Briccotondo Barbera

Fontanafredda Briccotondo Barbera is a ruby-red wine with purple highlights. The nose is packed with black fruit, especially blackberries and plums, with slight spicy overtones hinting at black pepper and cinnamon. Sweet, soft tannins come together in a closely-woven texture that merges with the fruit, while a crisp freshness provides a lingering, tasty finish.
