The fruit is de-stemmed with no crushing of the berries so that we begin whole berry fermentation. The whole berries seem to add some spice and complexity to the wine. Our Shiraz seems to enjoy relatively cool ferments, plenty of aeration and gentle treatment. The wine is gently pressed of skins, near dryness, based on taste.The bubbly purple wine finishes its fermentation in the presence of mainly French oak, with the smallest portion of American oak. The wine is racked when it has finished its malolactic fermentation, and then once or twice more over the season based on its individual requirements. Balanced and elegant tannins, nicely integrated oak, gives the wine balance and structure. Ø WINEMAKING Each parcel of fruit is gently crushed and transferred into small open fermenters. Heading down boards keep the cap submerged for better skin contact. The fermenters are temperature controlled to provide optimum conditions. Gentle extraction is achieved by the draining of wine from the skins and returning back over. Wine is then transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for maturation. The warm days and cool nights experienced in the Great Southern deliver wines with great finesse and definition, with this Shiraz just another example of the region's potential. Deep red to purple. Blackberry, dark cherry, clove and black pepper aromas. Very flavoursome with masses of dark berry fruit flavour, cool climate pepper, espresso and kitchen spice complexity, deep yet silken tannins and plenty of charry oak in support.

Bouquet of dark forest fruits, strawberries, some spice and fragrant tea smoke. The palate highlights are Cranberry freshness with the succulence of softer fleshy fruits and subtle sweet oak. Well integrated, silky tannins support a lingering opulence which is tempered by a freshening minerality on the finish.

A full-bodied wine with fragrant blackcurrant with fine cedar-like oak aromatics. The plate is rich in ripe dark fruit characters and a subtle oak characters. Frankland Estate Olmo's Reward, named after Dr Harold Olmo who first identified viticultural potenital of the isolated Frankland River region, is an elegant blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot and small components of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The concentrated palate has fine grained tannins, dark chocolates and savoury earthy notes leading to a generous and long finish.
