Price’s No.8 is a medium-bodied style, bringing together the classic combination of Shiraz and Cabernet. This delicious drop is a skilful blend of barrels of aged Cabernet with newer Shiraz to create a journey of seasons. The No.8 is sweetly fruited and beautifully lifted, the bouquet shows dark plum, blackcurrant, warm spice and toasted nut characters. The palate is equally attractive with succulent fruit intensity, well supported by plump mouthfeel and fine tannins leading to a lingering silky finish. Colour: Deep and dark crimson with a slight clear edge. Nose: A mix of blueberry and blackberry fruits. Plums and raisins with some cool earthy aromas fill the nose along with subtle oak. Palate: Super smooth on the front with fine tannins and medium to full length. Well-balanced, savoury mid pallet, with seasoned oak influences delivering a silky finish.

Price’s Block 5 is produced from the oldest and most consistent vines at our McLaren Vale vineyard. Attractively fruited and immediately appealing, the fragrant bouquet shows blackcurrant, spiced cherry, floral, thyme and toasted nut aromas, followed by a succulent palate that is supple and lingering. The tannins are energetic, fine grained, slightly puckering in their youth and are held up with layers of tobocca and cedar coming through from the french oak. The wine is powerful, youthful at release and has imposing character yet behind that a vale of delicacy and grace persist on the finish. Should cellar easily 10 years, possibly much longer.

A ¾ tonne bell with the name of 'Angelus' sits proudly atop the cellars at Wirra Wirra and heralds the beginning and end of vintage every year on the famous McLaren Vale estate. Previously the bell rang out from the Jesuit Church in Norwood thrice daily and due to this tradition, Wirra Wirra continue to name the bell and their very best Cabernet Sauvignon every year, The Angelus. Always a pungent and concentrated Cabernet with notes of cassis, cedar and trademark bitter chocolate bound with fine tannins. A propensity to age in the bottle for over a decade as well as its approachability early in life will appeal to all.
