Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier began its life after a career defining trip to the Côte-Rôtie in the mid 90s which set Tim Kirk on the journey towards producing one of Australia's best Shiraz. Determined to show that Australia could produce elegant but still powerful Shiraz, Tim's work has paid off with his flagship being acclaimed worldwide. In only 15 years, the Shiraz Viognier has attained 'Exceptional' status with Langton's, the highest possible.

The savoury and smooth Tempranillo is complimented by thespicy fruit and structure of Graciano. The resultant wine has greater intensity, depth and length.

Complex aromas of white pepper, fennel seed and freshly cut red fruits. The alluring sweetness reveals itself fully albeit integrated with the wines, spicy, savoury character and beautiful tight but silky tannins. A single vineyard wine sourced from the Fischer vineyard. Grapes were hand harvested at 13 Baume and processed into 1.5tonne open fermenters with 45% whole-bunches, balance whole berries. Matured in 35% new French barriques (Troncais forrest) balance in seasoned French barriques for 10 months. Bottled in March 2018. Ravensworth co-founder and winemaker Bryan Martin has been Tim Kirks righthand man at Clonakilla since 2004. He even makes his wines at the Clonakilla winery. But the fruit is all Ravensworth. ...'made from fruit grown our way.'- Bryan Martin Bryan Martins approach in the vineyard to encourage the health of the soil and diversity of the plant life. The wine is edgier than its Clonakilla equivalent but theres no mistaking the Rhône-inspired red-fruited, spicy, aromatic and floral style of Murrumbateman SV. It is one of the most desirable and sought-after wines from the region.

Aaron Mercer's new self-named venture is going from strength to strength, and is delivering some exceptional wines from across NSW, in this case Hilltops Tempranillo.Bright, deep purple. Youthful black cherry, blood plum, plum, pepper and cedar box. Crisp and refreshing entry, in a medium-bodied frame, with supple red fruit flavours, silken tannin structure, vibrant red berry acidity and good complexity throughout.

Season The 2021/2022 growing season commenced with good spring rains, giving way to a temperate summer. Mild, cool conditions through to harvest yielded beautifully clean fruit and ripe tannins. Viticulture Shiraz is grown on a number of elevated sites with deep granitic loams in the Hilltops region. Winemaking Grapes are harvested at around 13 Baumé, to capture freshness and purity at optimal ripeness. The destemmed grapes are open-fermented and worked with remontage and délestage. Malolactic fermentation and maturation takes place in Allier and Tronçais oak before blending and bottling at 12 months age. Lifted violets, red fruits, ripe cherry and gentle spice yield to a palate of dark plums, sweet fleshy tannins and a long, resonant finish. Decant before serving.
