Whenever we taste a blind Shiraz line up where this wine is featured, it's hard not to be lured into its enticing character of purity and style. O'Leary's highly perfumed, medium-bodied wine shows the vibrant red berry- and-spice character of cool-grown shiraz on a luscious, silky palate, cut with fi ne tannins. The beauty of this wine is in the perfumed lift of spice and violets overlaying the subtle tobacco characters on the palate. Oak maturation has imparted a little extra complexity and structure making the palate supple with fine lingering tannins.

Tempranillo and Graciano grown on the red soils of the Hilltops region near Young, NSW; were vinified seperately before blending and matuaration. The savoury and smooth Tempranillo is complimented by the spicey fruit and structure of Graciano, the resultant wine has greater intensity, depth and length.

A beautiful blend of Shiraz and Viognier from the Hilltops region. This wine has lifted perfume and dark berry characteristics.

The 2018 Nebbiolo was handpicked on the 28th March. This is realativly early for this variety. The fruit was the transfered to ther Cloankilla Winery were Bryan Martin natuarlly ferments the berries virtually undamaged for 4 weeks. The ferment begins within the berry and continues very slowly over time. The wine is then transferred into Oak Puncheons where it awaits bottling.

Winemaker Tim Kirk's ethereal and evocative Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier is perhaps one of the most important advances in the development of Australian Shiraz since the release of 1952 Penfolds Grange Hermitage. The fruit is sourced from two adjacent estate-owned vineyards. The original vineyard has south-east and south-west aspects whereas T and L Block faces north-east. Lying at 600 meters above sea level, the soils are granitic with sandy brown and red loams over friable clay. Traditional 'Burgundian' winemaking techniques are employed "to highlight the inherent flavours in the fruit". The aim is "to produce wines with natural balance and roundness". Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier is medium to full-bodied with highly aromatic ginger, white pepper, apricot fruit, underlying savoury French oak and fine slinky dry tannins. The Viognier component melts into the Shiraz and is rarely more than a "subliminal influence". The style captures the essence of contemporary winemaking philosophy and regional expression.
