This is a classic Yarra Valley Chardonnay from the Wedgetail estate, elegant, generously and voluptuous in style. It offers aromas of citrus, cashews, pear and a hit of vanilla. The mouth fill is full and satisfying with a crisp finish. Drinking beautifully now, and if well cellared will age gracefully for the next 5 to 8 years.

Lovely light bead, gently bottle carbonated by the French method which means hand riddling and disgorging to remove the yeast from the bottle. Not too acidic and lovely fruit on the palate.

A truly exceptional expression of chardonnay - Pale yellow with fine bubbles and persistent mousse. Delicate and floral, with a creamy mid-palate and a lingering, zippy finish.Apple aromas with hints of nut and toast. Primary fruit flavours of pears and apples and hint of nectarine.A gentle creamy texture, soft acidity and a long finish. Perfect with seafood – particularly oysters and mussels.

Winemaking This is a blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir fruit sourced entirely from the Napoleone Vineyard in the Yarra Valley. Each bottling represents a blend, being one part from the grandfather base tank (the oldest element being 2010) along with one part from the current vintage. The wine sees full MLF, as well as small injections of new oak and brandy spirit. Appearance Pale gold in appearance with a fine persistent bead. Bouquet Aromas of citrus fruits and subtle apricot, complemented by a doughy, bready complexity. Palate Fresh and vibrant with a focused palate structure of apple blossom and citrus characters with complex brioche notes.

Toolangi is a state forest just outside Healesville that was devastated during Black Saturday. The excellent vineyards remain, and continue to produce wines of personality and place. The Chardonnay combines varietal characters of quince and crab apple with some delicious nutty oak nuances. Its great value.

This unfiltered Chardonnay was made at Giaconda by Rick Kinzbrunner using traditional techniques. Quite sublime buttery richness with perfect balance of acid and oak integration.
