Fine-grained tannins, too…" The ‘Walter’ (formerly known as the ‘Patriarch’) has always been Mountadams flagship Shiraz, recognising the Patriarch and founder of Mountadam, David Wynn. The wine is named after Jennis’s father, Walter Small. Traditionally known as the best Shiraz from the Estate the 2022 vintage saw this wine sourced from the oldest plantings on the estate in Block 12 and Block 40, located in High Eden, a sub-region of the Barossa, approximately 550 metres above sea level. Soils are 500 million years old and although it’s an inhospitable place to grow vines, fruit quality is exceptional.

Henschke Julius is a classic expression of Eden Valley Riesling. An almost perfect vintage has provided the citrus blossom and lime aromas and an intense minerally structure which will develop for a decade at least.

At last an affordable Merlot with some real varietal character! Grant Burge Hillcot range has soft ripe red berry and raspberry aromas on the nose. Followed by ripe plum and cherry flavours enhanced by well-integrated oak.

The very first Gruner Veltliner from the Eden Valley, growing blissfully alongside their natural soulmate, Riesling (and showing some similar characters). Rich golden yellow in colour with an intriguing floral nose of blossom and stone fruit. The palate is rich and broad offering nectarine and white peach with back notes of citrus and grapefruit. A beautifully textural wine yet a pure, clean, mineral finish.
