Michel Chapoutier has been able to do it again! A savoury masterpiece from the southern Rhône appellation of Luberon. A spicy blend of Grenache and Syrah that displays intense varietal characters of nutmeg and black pepper. The palate, while medium-bodied, is quite forceful with robust flavours of blueberry and blackberry fruits. Great use of older oak has also assisted this Luberon be a brilliant follow on from the every popular Chapoutier Côteaux-du-Tricastin.

A delicious Syrah developed from hand picked grapes of vines planted on terraces of granitic sand in Northern Cotes-du-Rhone. Flavours of black fruits and morello cherry are abundant and match fantastically with red meats, game birds or unpasteurized milk cheeses. A true delight.

Michel Chapoutier continues to produce wines of unbelievable value and his Cotes du Rhône is the leader of the pack. For under $20, medium bodied reds don't get better than this.

Les Trois Clefs Côtes du Rhône comprises a fulfilling experience of true Rhone Valley wine. With its medium deep colour, musky red berry licorice aromas, juicy flavours, looseknit chalky tannins and mineral length, it is ready to drink now.

The La Sizeranne displays a similar deep ruby/purple-tinged colour in addition to sweet aromas of raspberries, black currants, smoke, gun flint and spice. This full-bodied, well-made wine reveals outstanding richness, purity and overall balance.

'The Cornas of the vintage is Clapes 2012 Cornas. An incredible effort, its inky purple/black colour is followed by spectacular aromas and flavours of black raspberry, graphite, beef blood, iron, cedar and white pepper (among other things). This is Cornas at its finest, with insane aromatics, full-bodied richness and massive concentration, yet at the same time staying elegant, seamless and gorgeously pure. Guigal are one of the cornerstones of the Côte Rôtie appellation after Etienne Guigal founded the estate in 1946, tending vines that have produced world class wines for over 2,000 years. The 2005 Côte Rôtie is a blend of 89% Syrah and 11% Viognier is a truly remarkable wine from vintage that was considered difficult by many. That is impossible to tell when enjoying a bottle of this 100 Robert Parker pointed Côte Rôtie that is voluptuous and complex. Still tightly wound and a little shy, the 2005 will age easily for 20+ years which should be considered mandatory.

The 2001 La Turque is a vineyard-designated wine from a parcel inside the lieu-dit Côte Brune. It is a blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Vigonier. Meaty and rich, laced with Asian spice, espresso, blackberries, and cherry. An earthy, powerful, tannic wine with a long, heady, rich finish. Give it at lease 2-5 years in the cellar, and drink before 2040. One of the finest wines in Dan Murphy's Cellar Release Range.

A beautiful Syrah from the Northern Rhone Valley, full of intense black fruits, savoury flavours and elegant tannins. Best paired with cold cuts, local sausages or a cheese plate.
