In this unique mixed dozen you will find two bottles of each of the below wines plus detailed tasting notes in each case. 2 x Coates The Mourvedre 2015 Perfumed aromas of blueberry and plum with hints of game and fresh herbs. The palate is soft and textured with layers of juicy berry fruits, lavender and exoitic spices, framed by smoky oak and silky tannins. A delightful wine with excellent depth of flavour and length.2 x Gundog Estate Smoking Barrel Red 2017A fragrant nose of dark berries, clove, oak and exotic spice. The fleshy palate boasts ripe plum and dark cherry fruit, interwoven with earthy spice and subtle smoky characters. Time in French oak and smooth tannins provide great balance and length of flavour. A great wine to sit back and enjoy.2 x Burton McMahon Syme on Yarra Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016"The fruit for this slinky pinot noir was harvested across two picking windows. The earlier to retain acidity and brightness of fruit, a challenge in this warm vintage. The outcome is a brooding, dark fruited Pinot Noir with an elemental streak of whole-cluster herb and twig, running through the mid-palate. The stems confer some crunchy tannins, too, reining in the flavours of cherry, wood smoke and rhubarb." 92 points, James Halliday's Wine Companion.2 x Massena 'The Howling Dog' Saperavi 2016"Dark and brooding but bright and bouncy. Handy combination. Sweet cherries, blackberries, iodine and wood smoke. It's one of those wines where the flavours all feel familiar, though they're arranged in a slightly different way. It works here. In the end it's an easy wine to like, full of fruit and character." 93 points, Campbell Mattinson.2 x Brackenwood Syrah 2016Adelaide Hills red at its finest. Aromas of blueberry and cherry fruit with hints of spice on the nose. The palate opens up to display an array of red fruits, pepper and spice interwoven to create a savoury core. Medium-bodied with ripe tannins and leads to a bright, long finish. An elegant but intense wine that will reveal more subtleties as it ages.2 x Bird in Hand Montepulciano 2016Deep in colour with brooding aromas of blackberry, plum, dried herbs,liquorice and mocha. The palate is full-bodied with generous dark fruits supported by firm, rustic tannins. It is a wine of structure, depth and length that is crying out to be enjoyed at a barbecue with friends.

We have had a long connection with Grant over the years, but we're excited to introduce Family Wine Estates, headed up by Grant's children, Trent and Amelia Burge. Trent is a sixth generation winemaker and it shows in the classic local styles he creates. Big, bold Barossa wines full of character and flavour that over deliver in every way. We cannot wait to see what's next for Family Wine Estates, and how Trent and Amelia build on the family's long history in the Barossa Valley.2 x Driftwood The Collection Cabernet Merlot 2016Driftwood Estate is a boutique winery set in the stunning Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River, Western Australia. Established by Tom and Helen Galopoulos in 1989 on what had previously been a country retreat, the winery immediately received acclaim when its first wine, a Semillon produced in 1993, won a special commendation in a British competition. Driftwood Estate is fortunate to be located in one of the greatest viticultural areas in the world, sourcing super-premium fruit year in year out. With premium quality fruit, their winemaking philosophy is all about protecting and expressing the qualities found in the grapes, so that wine lovers can enjoy the pure, varietal and regional flavours from the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River.2 x Hogshead Old Vine Shiraz 2017Made by the team who make the Woods Crampton range of wines, Hogshead wines are as bold and strong as the beast itself. Sourced primarily from low-yielding old vines in McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Barossa Valley, Hogshead is a range of intensely flavoured and full bodied wines perfectly suited to barbequed red meats. Each wine is partially matured in 300 litre Hogshead barrels for additional complexity and character.2 x La Luna Pinot Noir 2015Marlborough is one of the worlds foremost winegrowing regions. Its warm days and cool clear nights create a slow ripening period bringing out the best in the vines. It is these conditions that make Marlborough Pinot Noir so special. Lake Road is one of Marlborough's rising stars and with wines like this we can see why! 2 x Finca Enguera Tempranillo 2017Bodegas Enguera was founded in 1999. Its motivation was that of building up a winery using only its own vineyards. Enguera is a hilly district set in a mountainous region and cut up by ravines that may be more than 100 m (350 ft) deep. At present Bodegas Enguera possesses 160 hectares of its own vineyards, distributed between two specific areas. The first lies in the municipality of Fontanars dels Alforins and the second is in the municipality of Enguera. This wine is made from 100% Tempranillo from vineyards at more than 600m above sea level. Its made in the Joven style, meaning it is unoaked to let the bright, juicy red fruit flavours shine through.2 x Wild & Wilder The Wild Ones Shiraz Cabernet 2018As their name might suggest, Wild & Wilder is all about good fun. Masters of Wine, Giles Cooke (also the winemaker) and Fergal Tynan are the founders of this funky label and each bring a determination and flare to do things right but also to step away from the mundane. Together they work hand in hand with growers to source premium fruit from the Barossa, Langhorne Creek, Clare Valley and the Adelaide Hills to create wines true to place and varietal. The Character Series is inspired by Giles and Fergals favourite illustrator, JJ Grandville, and have matched each varietal to a playful character that reflects its nature. The Wild Ones Shiraz Cabernet, is like its namesakes on the bottle; elegant, refined and convivial.

In this mixed dozen you will find two bottles of each of the below wines plus detailed tasting notes in each case. 2 x Howard Vineyard Fourth Leaf Sauvignon Blanc 2018Family-owned and operated, Howard Vineyard produces estate grown, elegant cool-climate wines that are renowned for their delicate notes and distinctive fruit purity. Their vineyard is also known for being one of the premier sites in the Adelaide Hills for Sauvignon Blanc, due to the height and east/west facing aspect, which is why it was chosen to produce our Best in Society Spring White. The combination of these two factors means partial sunlight which results in cooler temperatures; perfect growing conditions for Sauvignon Blanc. Eight hours on skin and a short time on lees which adds additional flavours and texture to the wine. 2 x Bests Great Western Riesling 2017Since 1868, Bests has been making wines uninterrupted, always striving to produce expressive, authentic regional wines in Victorias Great Western region. Bests has been owned by two families since 1866 the Best family, who founded the winery; and today, the Thomson family, having purchased the property in 1920, after Henry Bests death. Bests is now run by Viv Thomsons son, Ben Thomson, the fourth generation of the Thomson family to manage the winery. Bests old vineyards, planted in the 1860s, are among the oldest and rarest pre-phylloxera plantings in the world. The invaluable Bests Nursery Block contains almost 40 varieties (some unidentified to this day). The 2017 vintage in the region was a classic, thanks to the fantastic winter rains, which set the vineyards up for ideal spring growing conditions that saw great flowering and fruit set. The mildsummer conditions and long ripening period ensured that the fruit matured in near perfect conditions for harvest. Bright straw-green, fuller than many of its vintage peers. The length of the palate is exceptional, as is the fluid line of the intertwined citrus fruit and acidity, lime and Meyer lemon fruit. The result is a riesling that will be drunk before its due time, and I would be happy to join forces tonight. 95 points, James Halliday. 2 x Cooks Lot Allotment 666 Pinot Gris 2018Cook family estate is a boutique winery producing wines from the premium cool climate region of Orange. Based on the edge of Mount Canobolas, winemaker Duncan Cook, who studied winemaking at Charles Sturt University, makes complex and elegant wines which exemplify the regions terroir. Cooks Lot works with a number of small growers in Orange and on occasion other regions, that focus on growing premium fruit. This Pinot Gris is such a versatile wine, the crisp fruit driven palate pairs well with any cuisine. Its a wine I love to take out for dinner with friends as everyone loves it and we know it drink well with whatever end up eating. Duncan Cook, winemaker. Pretty. Attractive aromas here to hook you in. Introduce yourself to Cooks Lot - you won't be disappointed. Soft through the mouth, the fruit purrs from gate to post. Neat textural touches add detail and interest. A delicate ginger spice slithers along bringing cinnamon poached fruit to the fore. 92 points, QWine Reviews.2 x Bird in Hand Two in Bush Chardonnay 2017Bird in Hand began in earnest in 1997 when its founder, Andrew Nugent, and his father Michael Nugent, happened upon a run-down dairy farm in the emerging Adelaide Hills wine region of south Australia. The site of a gold mine in the late 1800s, the 80 fertile acres enjoyed the ideal growing conditions for making stellar cool-climate wines. The seaside influence of the Gulf of St. Vincent, the cloud-trapping rise of the Mount Lofty Ranges and plenty of Australian sun all combined to create a special diurnal temperature shift that grapes love. A lightly oaked Chardonnay using old French oak to give a lively aroma of citrus and stone fruits. The palate offers an abundance of peach and nectarine with a clean and crisp finish. A combination of wild and cultured yeasts add complexity and texture. 2 x Pazo Dos Celtas Albarino Rias Baixas DO 2017The winery is located in Arbo, Pontevedra, where the wines are produced and bottled using modern equipment and techniques. This is a Vino de Pago winery, producing wines with grapes from a single estate or property. The vineyard is very carefully managed to ensure excellent quality. It was planted after merging more than 200 small farms, the property of more than 70 different owners, plot by plot - a clear reflection of the Galician smallholding. The Albariño vines are cultivated on trellises, resulting in more airy, sun-kissed and less acidic grapes than those obtained with other vine-training techniques. Moreover, the vineyard avoids many the phytosanitary treatments applied in other sub-areas of this appellation of origin.Lovely aromatics of green apple, honeysuckle, citrus and grapefruit with hints of herbs on the nose. The palate is bright and refreshing with vibrant fruit and mouth-watering acidity. A classic Spanish Albariño that would be a wonderful match for seafood.2 x Artigiano Pinot Grigio Venezie DOC 2017Artigiano is a boutique operation that produce hand-made wines from a range of regions throughout Italy in conjunction with Aramis Vineyards. Each wine is produced in consultation with Aramis winemakers with the primary aim of creating classic Italian styles using local varietals and winemaking methods. This Pinot Grigio is a perfect example of the rich and vibrant wines they make value for money this wine. Fresh pear aromas with floral blossom, and a leafy, herbal note. The palate displays nice balance and weight, with fresh pear and white stone fruit flavours, crisp acidity and a delicate savoury note.
