St Hugo has been a long established name in Australian wine, namely due to the iconic Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra. Made from premium Barossa Valley fruit that provides dark berry fruits with opulent herb and spice characters. Fresh blackberry and boysenberry, spice, liquorice, tar and dried herbs. Medium bodied, juicy bramble fruits, crisp boysenberry acidity, salted beef, firm but fine grained drying tannin, and a long fresh meaty herb infused finish.

Double Barrel Shiraz has a full and generous palate with a beguiling mix of sweet red fruits and dark chocolate indicative of its origins as Barossa Shiraz. Subtle toasty vanillin derives from aging in traditional French and American oak wine barrels. The careful use of aged Scotch whisky barrels for finishing has added complex nuances of almond-husks and also softened the dense tannins to yield an incredible smoothness.

Spinifex Esprit is a Grenache Mataro blend that has a vibrant, youthful and fresh palate driven by a tangy herb infused line of red fruit red currant, sour red plum, pomegranate and marjoram that gains warmth and depth turning to tobacco, game, cedar and darker fruit to close. Pulpy, fleshy fruit is drawn long with plum skin acids and stony tannins.

From vines over or approaching 100 years old, this was open - fermented with wild yeast, then spent 18 months in some new, mainly old, French oak barriques. Concentration shows in the colour and aroma of this shiraz, as well as the powerful, full-bodied palate, which shows guts and grip, if not great elegance. Dense chocolate and blackberry aromas are a feauture of this beautiful wine.

With fruit sourced from vineyards across the Barossa, this Shiraz expresses the characters of the variety and the Barossa. The wine is matured in old French oak and tanks, with each parcel kept separate until the final blending prior to bottling in October 2017. Deep, dark hues of purple and burgundy, with dark plum, lashings of pepper, whispers of vanilla and allspice. Firm tannins powder-coat the palate, gently drying and setting up persistent flavours of red plum, star anise and aniseed.
