Price’s No.8 is a medium-bodied style, bringing together the classic combination of Shiraz and Cabernet. This delicious drop is a skilful blend of barrels of aged Cabernet with newer Shiraz to create a journey of seasons. The No.8 is sweetly fruited and beautifully lifted, the bouquet shows dark plum, blackcurrant, warm spice and toasted nut characters. The palate is equally attractive with succulent fruit intensity, well supported by plump mouthfeel and fine tannins leading to a lingering silky finish. Colour: Deep and dark crimson with a slight clear edge. Nose: A mix of blueberry and blackberry fruits. Plums and raisins with some cool earthy aromas fill the nose along with subtle oak. The tannins are energetic, fine grained, slightly puckering in their youth and are held up with layers of tobocca and cedar coming through from the french oak. The wine is powerful, youthful at release and has imposing character yet behind that a vale of delicacy and grace persist on the finish. Should cellar easily 10 years, possibly much longer.

A ¾ tonne bell with the name of 'Angelus' sits proudly atop the cellars at Wirra Wirra and heralds the beginning and end of vintage every year on the famous McLaren Vale estate. Previously the bell rang out from the Jesuit Church in Norwood thrice daily and due to this tradition, Wirra Wirra continue to name the bell and their very best Cabernet Sauvignon every year, The Angelus. Always a pungent and concentrated Cabernet with notes of cassis, cedar and trademark bitter chocolate bound with fine tannins. A propensity to age in the bottle for over a decade as well as its approachability early in life will appeal to all.

Church Block first appeared back in 1972 under the watchful eye of Greg Trott and was taken by one of the original vineyards that ran alongside the small Bethany Church, across the road from Wirra Wirra's old ironstone cellars. Over the last 4 decades, it has become one of Australia's favourites. The 2005 Church Block is showing just what a little patience can do. After six years, the velvet texture is the dominant feature with integrated tannin taking a backseat.
