Derek’s 90’s love-affair with dance parties and techno music has inspired this range of red wines. The passion morphed with his school nickname Deadly Derek to became DJ Deadly. He used to make CD for friends with his best DJ mixes and signed them Mixed by DJ Deadly. The Keyboard Rose is just another one of his creations.

The Langmeil Resurrection Mataro has aromas of bright, blue and jammy fruits, with hints of white pepper and savoury notes. Juicy blue fruits flow over the tongue with white pepper and brambley spice giving great complexity. A medium bodied wine with fine tannin and a lovely, spicy finish.

Chris Ringland Sealed Shiraz gives rich and intense flavours which resolve into jammy black fruits. It give a deep red-black colour with aromas of plum jam, milk chocolate and sweet vanilla ice cream infused custard cream.

Concentration is the key word for this wine. Super ripe fruit, dense and rich, matured for an extended time in toasty new oak. Complex, vibrant aromas of violets, plums, blackberries and cassis with dried rosemary, thyme and oregano nuances, and a hint of beef stock, cedar and star anise spice. The palate is powerful yet incredibly finely structured with layers of plums, blackberries and red currants, guided by elegant acidity and tannins that integrate with the fruit and lead to a long, fine, beguiling finish. This wine, a true Syrah style, is lighter on its toesethereal, evenwith perfume that skips from the glass, and a juicy freshness that calls for drinking, with pleasure, right now. It seeks to represent with purity and grace the high altitude and cool climate of the Eden Valley, a showcase of this unique sub-region.The fruit for Higher Earth comes from parcels in four of St Hallets Eden Valley vineyards. Each parcel is treated individually according to its readiness and maturity. Unlike other St Hallett cuvées, Higher Earth is fermented at cool temperatures to instil vigour and freshness. It is aged in 25% new French oak. The result is a Syrah with lashings of dark fruit flavour and a lick of black pepper spice.

I love the purity and vitality of Grenache, and my approach in the winery is very much around preserving and promoting varietal character, and ensuring the wine is an honest expression of the region and that particular vineyard. Theres lifted fresh maraschino cherry with spicy cinnamon and clove aromas on the nose and the palate is loaded with delicious, juicy, fleshy & succulent Grenache flavours with terrific depth and richness. A full bodied red wine that can be enjoyed now, or if you can wait for, age between 5 to 10 years to further soften the structure and enhance complexing notes.

The Keyneton Euphonium epitomises the Henschke winemaking style. Typically this elegantly proportioned wine shows ripe dark berry, dried herb spicy aromas, plush concentrated flavours, velvety textures and long sinuous finish. The wine is a Shiraz dominant blend with minor components of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the Eden and Barossa Valleys. This wine is named after the Barossa Hills village of Keyneton, the centre of the Henschke family’s cultural and working life for over 150 years. Maturation takes place in a small proportion of new oak hogsheads with the remainder seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 18 months. The 'Euphonium' moniker was first introduced with the 2006 vintage.
