The wine is medium to full-bodied with a soft mid-palate and supple tannins. It has a well balanced structure with great texture, good length and lashings of fruit on the finish. A delightful medium-bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The nose shows blackcurrant, mint and licorice while the palate is rich and smoothly textured with plum, spice and chocolate flavours framed by fine tannins.

This wine is generous and rounded at first with juicy, deep berry compote fruits then yielding to a tightly woven frame of firm yet generous tannins. There are alluring, coconutty oak and fine dark chocolate characters, with a deep, soft centre of ripe berry fruits. Elegant acids and light, long tannins carry the palate to deliver a lingering finish.

In 1964 Jim Barry purchased 28ha of prime vineyard land in the Armagh district from Duncan McRae Wood. Shiraz was the first variety planted, and the McRae Wood property was the foundation of Barrys red wine production. The McRae Wood Shiraz in an unabashedly bold Clare Valley red thats big with plenty of oaky backbone. Black and red forest fruits (think cherry and plum) with a touch of vanilla and spice, its incredibly concentrated with a long, pleasing finish.

We love this wine. It's medium-bodied and just rolls off the tongue with all manner of delicious appealing flavours. The palate has an enticing mix of cloves and spices with a little blackcurrant character. The palate is generous with silky tannins and nice creamy oak with a lovely delicious finish.

Ripe and generous, the leafy, minty characters of Cabernet are complemented by the softness and plummy fruit coming from the Merlot. A nice touch of sweet oak completes the picture.
