Grenache has long been a stalwart of the South Australian wine scene and Penfolds have been blending Grenache with Shiraz since the 1950's. Recent years has seen a growing trend for the luscious perfumed styles like those emanating out of the northern Rhône and the Bin 138 produces a brilliant example. Going from strength to strength, this particular wine is quickly gathering momentum as one of the stand-out releases in the Bin series.

The Barossa Valley is renowned for its quality wines, and Cat Amongst The Pigeons Grenache Shiraz Mataró is no exception. A flavour explosion of red fruits, spice, plum and subtle earthiness provide an aromatic nose and balanced palate.

John Duval was the Chief Winemaker at Penfolds from 1986 - 2002, entrusted to make some of Australia's most iconic wines. This traditional old vine blend is a superb expression of the Barossa. Savoury, spice and subtle oak sweetness on the nose lead to smooth, seamless palate laden with plum jam and liquorice fruit.

The now much sought after Righteous range of wines from Kym Teusner was first established in 2005 with the Grenache and this is the latest incarnation of this foreboding Barossa wine. Sourced from an 80 year old bush-vine vineyard, the Righteous Grenache was gently crushed and fermented in open fermenters with regular pump-overs. Maturation was completed in a mix of French and American oak and has resulted in a modern classic Grenache.

The newest release from elusive and enigmatic winemaker and grapegrower Jack West. Sourced from vines planted in the rich red soils of the Lienert Vineyards, where the fruit ripens lazily under the big blue skies of the Barossas western ridge. The result is a wonderfully flavoursome blend of Barossas three hero red varieties Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. The Grenache brings vitality and juicy red fruits.
