Umamu Estate Margaret River Macann Sparkling
This is our first of the MacAnn Sparkling series. 'MacAnn' is after our founders – my parents Mac & Ann – who discovered the Margaret River in the early 80s and fell in love with our vineyard in 1997. Bursting to say hello and invite you for banter, MacAnn Sparkling is a wine for celebrations and especially when celebrating life. MacAnn Sparkling is made from Semillon with a splash of Sauvignon Blanc in the traditional method. The grapes were picked in the early morning on 15th March 2019 and battonaged weekly for two months to make the sparkling base wine. Then into bottle on the 25th July on lees for 15 months. Disgorged on the 27th October 2020 with 4g/L.
Cloudy Bay Pelorus Rose Non-Vintage
Pelorus Rosé is smooth and elegant, with a pale salmon hue and brambly aromas. The nose is laden with raspberries, cranberries and wild strawberries, while red florals, rosehip and marzipan hover at the fringe. Baked quince, cranberry and brioche meet citrus notes on the palate, while its fine structure persists all the way to a soft, dry finish.
G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut Non-Vintage
This champagne is a brightly sparkling, light golden yellow liquid with an abundance of fine and elegant bubbles. The nose reveals initial aromas of ripe fresh fruit (white and yellow peaches, apricots), tropical notes (lychee and pineapple). It then opens up with the fragrance of vanilla before developing notes of milky caramel, breadcrumbs and yeast, culminating in aromas of dried fruit and honey. An explosion of freshness in the mouth, followed by strong persistence. The complex aromas of fresh fruit and caramel perpetuate the intensity. Mumm Grand Cordon signifies triumph and elation – a symbol of success to be experienced and celebrated, whether as a toast for the ultimate moment or savoured with a meal of white meat or fish such as monkfish or red mullet. Mumm Cordon Rouge provides a distinctive aperitif with confident freshness. When combining with food, its aromatic richness perfectly compliments white meat and fish such as monkfish or red mullet, taking the experience to new heights. The crisp elegant structure of the champagne also complements the creamy flavours of foie gras, making an exhilarating contrast.
Sidewood Signature Chloe Cuvée
No word of a lie, this is one of the best value sparkling offerings we've ever had the pleasure of puting together. Méthode Traditionelle, created in a world-class winery, with 6 years on yeast lees. This sparkling is completely at home with the best in the world. We know we've said it before but, it's important to note: Sidewood Estate have, what is considered by some to be, the most state-of-the-art sparkling winemaking facilities in the country, if not the world. Along with a reputation for astonishing wines, they also have a history of criminally under-pricing their own products. With a traditional blend of 65% chardonnay and 35% pinot noir, this wine has wonderfully toasty brioche aromas enhanced by zesty citrus and bright green apple. A harmonious palate of citrus blossom, biscuits and further green apple, is complemented by a clean, mineralic acidity and a loooooooong, elegant creamy finish. Where do we sign up?
Sidewood Isabella Late Disgorged Sparkling Rosé
Sidewood Estate have, what is considered by some to be, the most state-of-the-art sparkling winemaking facilities in the world. Along with a reputation for astonishing wines, they also have a history of criminally under-pricing their own products. This is a perfect example. Pristine fruit, treated in the traditional method and left 5 years on lees, the Isabella Late Disgorged is one for the sparkling purists. Speaking honestly here, if you chucked an old French guy's name on the label, even the most devout Champagne-heads would struggle to tell the difference. One of the best sparkling wines in the country and absolutely tremendous value.
Marcel Pierre Brut Non-Vintage
From the terroir of Epernay, this Champagne is a tantalizing blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes. Offering bright fruit flavours, this wine is delicate and smooth. Perfect with seared scallops or fig and goat cheese crostini. A relatively light style of NV Champagne with hints of apples and yeast coming through on the nose. It makes a great accompaniment to seafood mollusks, such as oysters, mussels or clams. Good length and balance make this an exceptional buy to share with friends or family.
Taittinger Brut Reserve
Taittinger Brut Reserve contains a blend of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Meunier. A golden-yellow beauty with an expressive aroma of fruits, flowers and vanilla pod. The palate is delicate and equally fruity with hints of honey for a touch of sweetness.
Pommery Brut Royal Non-Vintage
Established in 1836, Madame Pommery is credited with creating the first vintage brut style of Champagne in 1874, at a time when most champagnes were excessively sweetened with sugar. This revolutionary dry style set the benchmark for the rest of Champagne and it is in this spirit that the style of Pommery endures; with each cuvée displaying sublime elegance, finesse and freshness. Pommery is one of the few Champagne Houses that produces their large formats in the actual bottle in order to allow for optimal ageing.
Champagne Duperrey Brut Rosé
Champagne Duperrey Brut Rosé, hand-crafted by Christophe Rapeneau from fruit grown around the iconic Champagne town of Reims, is a truly attractive and sensuous sparkling rosé that lends itself to many occasions and food pairings. A wonderful lifted and vibrant strawberry colour in the glass paves the way for the nose which sees aromas of ripe cherry and a hint of apricot. In the mouth, this Champagne comes into its own with a smooth and creamy mousse complimented by a super fine bead. Flavours of raspberry and cherries come to the fore to produce a sparkling wine overflowing with charisma and class.
Château de Bligny Grande Réserve
Château de Bligny is a unique Champagne house in that it is the only house to have the 'Château' appellation attributed to it as a boutique style. Built in the heart of the Côte des Bars by the Marquis de Dampierre,Château de Bligny produces a Grande Réserve here of utmost elegance. A non-vintage Champagne and a 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay blend, the Grande Réserve is golden yellow in colour with a mineral bouquet that gives way to a complex rich palate that has extreme length.
