Standing on its own two feet, this release delivers a contemporary Shiraz alternative, framed by a mix of oaks; French and American, old and new - crafted in accordance with the traditional Penfolds method.

The initials RWT stand for ‘Red Winemaking Trial’, the name given to the project internally when developmental work began in 1995. Naturally, now no longer a ‘trial’, RWT Shiraz was launched in May 2000 with the 1997 vintage. Its style is opulent and fleshy, contrasting with Grange, which is more muscular and assertive. RWT is made from fruit primarily selected for its aromatic qualities and plush texture. RWT wines are built for the long haul, with the precision, concentration and balance to age for many years.The palate is generous, with voluminous and enveloping tannins, so silken they betray their density and persistence. This sturdy foundation provides a perfect canvas upon which to display the spoils of the harvest, layers of flavours roll over the palate in waves. Varietally correct and true to origin. Blue fruits, boysenberry, plum and mulberry are front and centre, a signature of RWT. A suggestion of crème brûlée and panforte provide a sweet counterpoint to complex notes of exotic spice and cedary oak.

Senior winemaker Jamie Saint, pursues his passion for the wines of the Barossa through the Barossa Valley Wine Company. He crafts wines of sophistication, each with the perfect balance of elegance, power and grace. Farms is iconic Barossa at its best, a mark if respect to those that have carved out our regions reputation, and a nod to those yet to come. An intense nose of blackberry, black olive, liquorice and cigar box characters leads to a powerful palate of rich blackberry, olive tapenade and vanillin spice with dense, powerful and grippy tannins. Fermented for 7 – 10 days in traditional open top fermenters the wine undergoes malo-lactic fermentation in French and American hogsheads followed by twenty months oak maturation. The Dirtman Shiraz by Gibson Wines is named after Rob Gibson, owner and winemaker. With love of viticulture and the soil, Rob has always been referred to as The Dirtman. This attractive Shiraz has wonderful rich, dark cherry notes with plums and a touch of apricot thrown in. The texture on the palate is vibrant with a length that is simply perfect.

Includes 30% whole bunch fruit with maturation taking place in an even mix of stainless steel and old French oak hogsheads for a period of 6 months. Black as night heart with a youthfully bright dark red hue. Fragrant freshly crushed blackberry, liquorice and dark plum scents cross paths with some spicy vanillin cedar and peppered fennel notes. Rich juicy dark plum, liquorice and blueberry fruits overlay spicy vanilla and subtle peppered earth characters. Fresh acidity and polished tannins concluding lively and succulently fruited.
