The gravelly soils and sunny climate of Hawkes Bay are producing some of New Zealand's most exciting reds. Te Mata Gamay Noir has notes of red candy-apple and hints of ripe strawberry. The palate is saturated raspberry; juicy and sustained with silky, round tannins, accompanied by a fine dusting of liquorice and white pepper. Red-ripe fruit, crunchy acidity, and a fresh and intense style. Match with spicy cuisines.

Just in, The Squealing Pig Syrah palate explodes with dark berries and spice up front, before tapering to tart blueberry accompanied by wonderfully silky tannins. An amazing expression of cool climate Hawkes Bay Syrah, this wine is elegant and vibrant. Offering slight hints of juniper, blueberry and pepper, it is well balanced on the palate.

In 1961, at just 21 years of age, George Fistonich leased five acres of land from his father in Mangere, Auckland and started off with just an acre of vines. George made his first wine under the name Villa Maria in 1962 with grapes harvested from this block. Today Villa Maria is New Zealand's most awarded winery. Villa Maria Private Bin Hawkes Bay Rose 2022 vintage is a beautiful salmon pink colour. The nose has bright floral aromas leading to a palate of red fruits, spice, and strawberries.
