When you ask Alessandro Gallici if he comes from a family of winemakers, he laughs gently at the notion – no, his father was a truck driver. However, he was born in Friuli and his family had a little bit of land and a few rows of vines that had been theirs for generations. They vinified the fruit in a shed just for their own consumption. Now, for a number of years he’s been president of an important local winery, but in 2010 he started up on his own. Made with grapes selected from top areas – Colli Orientali and Grave – this wine delivers delicate pear fruit and crisp minerally ‘zing’. Enjoy solo or match with salads, mushroom ravioli or creamy linguine.

Pinot Grigio is one of the most popular whites in the western world, loved for its refreshing, delicate flavours. This exceptional Pinot Gris from Amisfield shows pronounced aromatics of roasting quince, bees wax and orange blossom. The palate is broad, complex, rich and textured while remaining elegant, with a dry finish.

This grey-skinned grape Pinot Gris underwent a gentle winemaking process with minimal colour extraction from the skin that resulted in a beautiful blush hue. On the nose, aromas of pear and nectarine are complemented by notes of roses and Turkish delight that are introduced by the yeast. The soft palate is laced with pear and lychee flavours leading to a satisfying finish. This varietal can be enjoyed with oven-roasted chicken, meaty fish or pork dishes.

Bright pale yellow, there is nothing Innocent about this Pinot Gris! An extremely well made wine with distinct pear and freshly cut green apple slice on the nose followed by similar varietal characters on the palate. Joe Grilli, Primo Estate’s owner and winemaker, named his Pinot Grigio 'd’Elena' as he planted his single hectare of Pinot Grigio vines the week his daughter Elena was born in 1998. Eighteen years later, the vines have developed deep roots in the shale stone soil and produce a savoury style Pinot Grigio with minerality and elegance. The fruit is handpicked and very gently pressed before fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is bottled early to preserve the delicate fruit characters. Best enjoyed young, this wine will drink well for several years. The d'Elena offers fresh citrus fruit acidity and light pear fruit. This wine's natural acidic balance and savoury mineral length make it the perfect food wine.
