Giesen Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

This Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is aromatically expressive and generously flavoured with freshly cut herbs, scrumptious tropical fruit with subtle notes of blackcurrant leaf. Winemaking is to emphasise everything that comes from the vineyards, to amplify the fruit to create the consistent Giesen house style. Specially selected yeasts are added to the juice to start fermentation. These yeasts help build texture, weight and aromatics in the wine. We batch ferment and stop these ferments at a point to retain some natural sweetness to help balance the classic Marlborough acidity The three Giesen brothers Theo, Alex and Marcel are proof familial relationships and business can work harmoniously, with good humour - and international success. Thanks to their Grandfather sommelier August, Great Grandfather Leonhard Kaiser who was a brewer and their parents who gave the brothers a love of international cuisine the trio had the drinks trade and hospitality in their DNA.

Nautilus Estate Sauvignon Blanc

The 2018 Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc displays intense lifted aromas of citrus peel, blackcurrant buds and fresh herbs. The palate introduces a delightful lime/citrus based mouth-watering intensity and finishes with a strong textural component. The fruit was machine harvested at night or in the cool of the morning, gently crushed and pressed then fermented with a variety of aromatic yeast strains in stainless steel tanks - the sole aim being to reflect and preserve the flavours and aromas grown in the vineyard. 10% of the juice fermentations were started with a non-saccharomyces yeast and 3% of the blend was barrel fermented. After fermentation, the wine was kept in contact with the lees for five months. This classic technique enhances creaminess and integrates flavours.
