Deep garnet in colour, displaying a mixed array of wildberry and red licorice aromas. The palate is fresh and vibrant, juicy and rounded. A very modern styled Barossa Shiraz, which is delicious drinking now that will mature well for the medium term. A variety of fermentation techniques were utilized, but all involved extended skin contact ranging from 15 to 25 days. A cold soak period of up to 6 days occurred before a natural warming to start the fermentation. Upon completion the ferments were pressed to a mix of new and seasoned oak hogsheads, for malolactic fermentation and maturation.

Seppeltsfield The Westing Shiraz Barossa The Grounds wines from Seppeltsfield focus on the sub-regionality of the Barossa. The name is derived from the Barossa Grounds project. This was a comprehensive study of the districts sub-regionality led by the Barossa Grape & Wine Association. The fruit is sourced from single-site, estate-owned vineyards. 'Seppeltsfield, under the ownership of entrepreneur and winemaker Warren Randall, has undergone a remarkable transformation.' The fruit for The Westing is sourced from the Western Grounds Vineyard Seppeltsfield V Block. The Westing is vinified through Seppeltsfields historic 1888 Gravity Cellar. The initials RWT stand for ‘Red Winemaking Trial’, the name given to the project internally when developmental work began in 1995. Naturally, now no longer a ‘trial’, RWT Shiraz was launched in May 2000 with the 1997 vintage. Its style is opulent and fleshy, contrasting with Grange, which is more muscular and assertive. RWT is made from fruit primarily selected for its aromatic qualities and plush texture. RWT wines are built for the long haul, with the precision, concentration and balance to age for many years.The palate is generous, with voluminous and enveloping tannins, so silken they betray their density and persistence. This sturdy foundation provides a perfect canvas upon which to display the spoils of the harvest, layers of flavours roll over the palate in waves. Varietally correct and true to origin. Blue fruits, boysenberry, plum and mulberry are front and centre, a signature of RWT. A suggestion of crème brûlée and panforte provide a sweet counterpoint to complex notes of exotic spice and cedary oak.

The Mars Express is a masculine Barossan red. A full-bodied offering, that will be enjoyed by all, but will be a staple for the traditional Barossan Shiraz drinker. Beautiful inky black fruits jostle their way into dominance (just!) over rich anise, dark olive and intense charred oak that simply demands attention. Did I mention perfectly balanced tannins and spice? Teamed with an enticing colour, vibrant hue and layers for days. Time to get on board!

Blood red in colour with hues showing some maturity. Complex aromas of ground coffee, chocolate and red fruits. The palate still shows the 2012 vintage vibrancy and tension, now layered with complex umami and cedar. This wine is deep, even, long and utterly delicious.

The palate is generous and beautifully balanced, with dark berry fruit and savoury secondary flavours of coffee and cedary oak. At once rich and elegant, with a persistence of flavour, seamless texture and long, smooth, chocolatey tannins typical of the characteristic Black Label style that overrides regional and varietal influences.

Keyneton Euphonium is a beautiful composition of shiraz from up to 50-year-old vines growing in the Eden and Barossa Valleys, blended with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc from selected vineyards in both regions. A classy red from an iconic producer. Deep garnet with pale garnet hues. Lifted aromas of red plum, mulberry, blackcurrant and black pepper, with supporting notes of thyme, bay leaf, charcuterie and cedary oak. A concentrated and powerful palate of mouth-watering ripe plum, blackberry and black and red currant, balanced by savoury white pepper, anise and tarragon, fresh and buoyant acidity and an exceptionally long, fine tannin finish.
