In the glass: Pale and bright.On the nose: Citrus aromas complemented by light stonefruit lift. On the palate: Quite a complex example of Semillon, it features a savoury spice character throughout. Overall, its fresh and vibrant expression of the variety with an interesting twist.

McKelvey Estate continue to produce wines punching above their weight and with Keith Tulloch as winemaker, its easy to see why. In the glass: Delicate pale straw with green highlights. On the nose: Energetic and zesty white and yellow melon with cashew and fine oak spice. On the palate: Finely structured with elegant white fig and white peach, dry, minerally acidity and long, fresh acidity.

The freshness of this wine demonstrates why Hunter semillon is possibly the most under-rated wine style in the world. The aromas centre around lemon, lime and fresh hay, and the palate is decidedly linear, based on a spine of acidity. This exceptional wine, at six years of age, is still at least five away from its optimum drinking window. A young and approachable white wine, this wine has been crafted to last a long time in the cellar. The well balanced palate contains fresh citrus elements supported by crisp acidity, leading to a clean finale.

The Scarborough Offshoot Vermentino starts with aromas orange blossom, grapefruit, green pear and a hint of germanium. The full palate has lively acid followed by grapefruit and pears with a long crisp finish showing raw almonds and ginger.

Classic lemon and lime zestiness balanced by fleshier citrus fruit on the palate. Elegant, fresh finish.

Although the Hunter is better-known for its unique blend of Semillon Chardonnay, we do also see the occasional Semillon Verdelho, and this one is a cracker!Vibrant pale straw in appearance. Pretty aromas of white peach, lemon, apple and melon. Clean and crisp with Granny Smith and stonefruit notes in a lovely easy-drinking style with soft acidity and a juicy finish.

The Drayton’s Bull Paddock vineyard, planted in 1965, is the basis for this impressive Chardonnay. This wine is light, golden yellow in colour with a tinge of green. The aromas are of fig and tropical fruits with obvious and well- integrated French oak and yeast complexity. The wine has a round palate with layers of flavour and a well structured mouth feel.
