Chateau Ducluzeau is owned by Bruno Borie, owner of the iconic Second Growth Ducru Beaucaillou in St Julien. The 10ha vineyard in Listrac being planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon (the highest percentage of Merlot in the entire appellation). Classic Bordeaux through and through - with beautiful notes of liquorice, rose, plum and blackberry.

Dominique Piron is one of the benchmark producers in Beaujolais, producing balanced and thoughtful wines. The wine offers abundant fruit but also strucutre, resulting in a very rewarding Bojo.

For five centuries, the name Dopff and the majestic medieval town of Riquewihr in Alsace's Upper Rhine, have been inextricable. Since 1574, the Dopffs have dedicated themselves to the art of producing great Alsace wines from vineyards in and around picturesque Riquewihr. The current winemakers at Dopff represent the eleventh generation of the family to cultivate the vine and make wine on their Alsace estate. Dopff have also enjoyed an unbroken trading partnership with Dan Murphys since the mid-1950s. Totally unoaked, to allow the delicacy and freshness of the fruit to shine, the colour is true red-violet robe. The nose is delicate and expressive with notes of red fruit and spices. The palate shows a lovely fruity attack of red berries, and the wine finishes harmoniously with great freshness.

Gamay is the extremely attractive grape that makes France’s Beaujolais so very appealing. You don't often see it in Australia but when you do you wonder why. Chris Coulter practices minimum intervention with his Coulter Wines enterprise, sourcing grapes mainly from the Adelaide Hills. Black cherry and bright raspberry with a hit of heady, whole peppercorn spice, touch of cola and lovely burst of five spice that drives the inviting nose home. Super crunchy, raspberry fruit layered in with fine slippery tannins. Bursting with red fruit flavour, bright and bouncy. Brouilly is the largest and furthest south of the Beaujolais crus. It has a good south eastern exposure, at the bottom of the Saône Valley at an altitude of 200 to 300 metres. The subsoil consists of granite debris and blue-tinged schist. This also ranked the full 5 stars in my abbreviated-for-iPad rating system! Immediately exuberant, with a diverse array of floral notes, theres also some white pepper and crushed cherry notes. Gamay varietal by Dominique Piron.

Built in the 16th century and situated in Barsac at about 30 kilometers from Bordeaux, Château Massereau was acquired by the Chaigneau family in 2000. A 19 hectare estate with 10 planted (6,600 – 7000 plants/hectare) in the Barsac, Graves and Bordeaux Superieur appellations. Château Massereau Bordeaux Supérieur 2018 is a blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc & 10% Petit Verdot. Vinified in concrete vats for 4-8 weeks naturally without additional yeast, finings, filtration and low sulphite. The resulting wine is garnet in colour with an intense nose of black fruit, with hints of sweet spice and pepper.
