Kath Quealy pioneered Pinot Grigio/Gris styles and is undoubtedly the 'queen of Gris'; classic honey, mushroom, hay and wood smoke characters; richly textured, it finishes long and strong.

The Winemaking: Once harvested the fruit was crushed and pressed; the juice was cold settled and racked to ferment. The ferment was carried out with selected yeast and stopped with some residual sugar. Post fermentation the wine was stabilised, clarified and bottled. This great Pinot Gris from Mt Difficulty has aromatics reminiscent of a fruit cocktail full of stone fruit, melon and green mango. These characters are richly replicated on the palate, with a full-textured mid palate and an off-dry finish. Delicious.

Located at Angle Vale, the Carypidis family have been producing high quality Pinot Grigio for Yalumba for a number of years and were Certified Organic in 2010. This beautiful example exhibits jasmine and white flowers, which are complemented by cinnamon quill and all spice. These are met by crunchy nashi pear acidity and a musk stick finish.

This is a very fine Gris. Its elegant nose shows hints of citrus, grapefruit, musk and apricot while on the palate the wine is structured and remarkably tight with mineral characteristics supporting rich, tropical fruit. The acid is very fresh and the length impeccable.
