A pioneer of the Australian wine industry, Jim Barry was responsible for shaping South Australia's Clare Valley as a benchmark producer of world-class shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. The Block 5 sub-section of the Kidman vineyard sits at the northern end of the celebrated Coonawarra growing region. This part of the district ripens earlier than the south, making it very well suited to Shiraz. With its classic Terra Rossa over Limestone soils, the mature vines on this vineyard produce exceptional and highly sophisticated cool climate Shiraz, which is approachable in its youth but also eminently cellar-worthy.

Pioneer of the Coonawarra region, John Riddoch, lends his name to the highway that dissects the famous 'terra rossa' dominated region which is home to some of Australia's premier red wine vineyards. The fruit for this evocative Shiraz is sourced from some of these vineyards and is aged in a combination of French and American oak for 18 months to develop increased complexity. The Parker Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is made in a riper, more generous style to its peers, yet with enough restraint to display the distinct varietal and regional characteristics. Dark chocolates, violets and notes of liquorice capture the nose, revealing a expansive soft palate layered in berry fruits.
