When Bill Samuels, Jr., decided to create a new bourbon, he was looking for a companion to his father's signature Maker's Mark that would help leave his own mark on the family legacy. He made it a personal challenge to give bourbon lovers a bourbon that could be held on the tongue and featured much more of the natural vanilla and caramel notes he admired in the original. He and his team began working with the Independent Stave Company, experimenting with special barrels, different wood varieties and varying levels of char. After many tries, Bill found the answer in placing 10 seasoned, seared virgin French oak staves into a barrel of fully matured Maker’s Mark. These special staves were on file with the Independent Stave Company as “profile 46,” and so Maker’s Mark 46 was born, leaving its own mark as a first-of-its-kind bourbon.

Inspired by traditional Calaveras (skulls made from sugar) which are used in Day of the Dead rituals to symbolize death and rebirth, Kah Blanco Tequila has intense sweet aromas of cooked agave followed by a spicy which peppery punch. Michters is Americas first distilling company, dating back to 1753 when they started out making rye whiskey. They take a 'Cost Be Damned' approach to the production of every barrel, using various methods including air drying their barrels for 36 months, toasting the barrels before charring them, using a low barrel-entry strength, heat cycling to encourage ageing during the frigid winters and using specific filtration types for each whiskey they make.
