Oakridge 864 Pinot Noir is a true single vineyard expression of Pinot Noir by one of the Yarra Valley's premier producers. Applejack Vineyard was planted by highly respected viticulturist Ray Guerin and is managed by his son Mark. This vineyard is situated in the Upper Yarra Valley to the south east of the traditional valley floor. The higher altitudes result in cooler growing conditions, despite the westerly aspect. The distinctive dark-red volcanic loam soil is a distinguishing feature of the vineyard. Applejack Vineyard is located on a dramatic slope and is close planted and meticulously managed. A selected blend of cool-climate Pinot Noir from our premium vineyard sites. Whole berry bunch fermented and matures in French oak casks for 9 months, displaying classic yarra Valley fragrance, texture and elegance.

For the Old Vine Reserve by Seville Estate, the Pinot Noir is purely sourced from the original 1972 plantings. The block is one acre and produces low yields (1-2 tonnes/acre) of small berries and bunches. The colour is deep especially for Seville pinot with a slight hazy pale purple hue. The wine is beautifully perfumed and bright with strawberry red fruits, spice, slightly gamy with earthy tones. Darker fruits on the palate with multi layered characters of red fruits, savoury whole bunch, nutmeg spice and smoky bacon. The wine has great length and natural fruit tannin that is nicely balanced with the acidity and oak.

The wine is a vibrant brick red in colour. It displays notes of sour cherries, Christmas pudding and cinnamon on the nose. The palate is rich and textural with hints of strawberry, forest fruits and earthy undertones.Enjoy now or cellar for up to 10 years.Fruit for this wine was handpicked from our single vineyard site The View approx 300 metres above sea level.
