Just over 20 years ago, Claymore Wines was humbly established with small volumes of Grenache and Riesling from a single vineyard in Penwortham. Since then, the estate has grown to include additional varietals and 44 hectares across three additional vineyards in Watervale.

Grown on an elevated, rocky site west of the township of Auburn, our single-vineyard pinot gris was hand-harvested at the perfect point of ripeness to create a brilliantly fresh style of wine. Our commitment to hand-picked fruit is vital in achieving pure colour and appealing grape character in the finished wine. In fact, we already began the process back in the vineyard by thinning 30% of the crop to enhance flavour intensity. Once we are in the winery, gentle handling and minimal interference and inputs are key to protecting the delicate purity of our pinot gris fruit and attaining the bright wine style we love. "This has hallmark slickness and vitality in texture, with greasy apple, nashi pear and cashew savouriness, a lift of pleasing white vinegary tang and a dash of sweet, exotic spice. That's a good list of ingredients for gris, here done medium weight with good length in tow. While not overly complex, it delivers a sense of layers and interest to the wine. Colour - Golden straw with Light Green Tones. Bouquet & Palate - This wine commenced with a restrained floral perfumed nose of lemon blossom aromas. It has now started to emerge from its initial straight jacketed steely tightness, opening up with glorious ripe pear and lemon flavours with hints of ripe rock melon that linger on the palate with a long, dry & refreshing finish.

Fresh, bright and youthful - the nose is awash with attractive, fruit forward aromatics that cross the spectrum from rich pear to white peach. Fresh yet svelte, the palate sees that lifted green pear evolve onto a nashi pear, with golden delicious apple vibes. Bright, primary fruit sits front and centre, backed by lovely textural elements, notes of almond meal and herbaceous hints of tarragon. Throughout the palate there is a minerality that can only be described as groovy. The epic finish lingers like a classic 70’s guitar solo, a moreish encore in every sip.

There is a youthful restraint to the flavour profile of our One Lovely Day Riesling with promise of even greater things to come. The finish lingers with echoes of grapefruit and sherbet edge wrapped in appealing, gentle texture. Open and lifted, bursting with notes of lemon and lime juice and hints of jasmine; Exquisitely fine natural acid underpins a journey of juicy flavours in the mouth - imagine a burst of vibrant citrus of lemon pulp intensity, all intertwined with unmistakable minerality derived from the chalky soils of Watervale in the region of the Clare Valley.

Glamper lower alcohol Semillon Blend is a refreshing vibrant style with tropical notes and a floral lift. Zesty citrus flavours and a clean lingering finish, are best enjoyed chilled on a summer night’s sky full of stars.

Lush, almost tropical aromas of pineapple, bananas and melon - the palate exhibits steely minerally flavours without being overly acidic. An excellent advertisement for Clare Riesling.
