The Kaesler family were Silesian immigrants who settled in the Barossa Valley back in 1845, setting out the current vineyards in 1893. Though the family sold up in 1968 the estate is still in tact and bears the family name. Reid Bosward is the winemaker of this fine Shiraz, given 94pts by Dave Brooks in The Halliday Wine Companion. “Another cracker from the excellent 2021 vintage, more along the blueberry and boysenberry fruit line in this wine with abundant spice and hints of dark chocolate, licorice, Christmas cake, roasting meats and violets. Tight, fine sandy tannins lend ample support and the wine trails off nicely with a real meaty, dark-fruited edge.”

Whistler Wines is owned by the Pfeiffer family, with brothers Martin and Chris at the helm. (Martin had run the Penfolds vineyards back in the 1980s). The next generation, brothers Josh and Sam Pfeiffer, joined them in 2013, introducing new wine styles and a drive towards sustainabilty.

Blackberries and plum skin aromas, fragrantly supported by baking spices, star anise, black olive, and dark chocolate. A medium bodied plush wine, but still fresh and distinctive with the power and concentration of refined primary fruits. A core of blackberry and plum, with fantastic lively & textural tannins, supporting the fruit, right through to the finish. Well suited to a rare roasted saddle of venison, or try with a premium cut of rare dry aged beef. Also compliments a good vintage cheddar.

The Fat Cat Shiraz from Cat Amongst the Pigeons from the Barossa is made from carefully selected grapes, chosen for their superior quality. The result? The ultimate Borossa Shiraz full of intense, rich flavours of plum, blackberry and a hint of spice.

Strikingly vivid in colour with deep purple and magenta. There are energetic aromatics showing fresh, pure expression of fruit. Aromas of violets, dark rose, sweet plum, spice, licorice and fruitcake emanate from the glass. The palate is bursting with rich and bright dark fruit flavours. Well structured, with natural tannins providing a muscular framework the wine is full in body, flavour and mouth feel. A touch of creaminess leads to a lengthy finish completing this resplendent wine. Chris Ringland Shiraz 2005 represents an outstanding expression from the vineyard. The vine is powerful, voluptuous and ripe, yet the tannins are plush and mature, with moderate acidity. This vintage will have great longevity potential.

Elderton is one of Australia's great Shiraz producers, year in and year out. Brimming with ripe juicy blood-plum and chocolate flavours, this is almost like Black Forest cake in a bottle!

An exceptional Barossan Shiraz from the artisan cult producer, Spinifex.
