Head Wines was started in 2006 by Alex Head. It focuses on single site Rhône varietals from the Barossa and Eden Valleys in South Australia. Head Red is a barrel cull from Barossa vineyards including 'The Blonde', 'The Brunette' and The Contrarian single vineyard Shiraz wines. It allows a pre-view of the vintage quality to come and keeps the quality of the Single vineyard wines as high as possible. The wine receives 12 months barrel age in predominantly older French hogsheads allowing the vintage and terroir to show clearly. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Chris Ringland Shiraz 2005 represents an outstanding expression from the vineyard. The vine is powerful, voluptuous and ripe, yet the tannins are plush and mature, with moderate acidity. This vintage will have great longevity potential.

Established in 1890, Château Tanunda sits upon the site that saw the first plantings in the Barossa Valley, back in the 1840's. The grand château itself is a heritage icon and has recently been restored to it former glory. 'The Château' Shiraz is sourced solely from the Vine Vale vineyard and after picking spent 10 days on its own skins to extract colour, flavour and tannin. 18 months in a mixture of old and new French and American barriques and hogheads has produced a wine of opulence and serious concentration while still retaining balance and elegance.

The Barons of Barossa include many well-known and award-winning winemakers from wineries including Henschke, Elderton Wines, Kalleske, Glaetzer Wines, Kaesler Wines and Yalumba, to name only a few. The outstanding 2016 Barossa vintage, with its long, dry and warm summer days, has produced a wine that is full of rich dark fruit and chocolate flavours with finely balanced French oak complexity. Glaetzer The Bishop Shiraz, Barossa Valley Bishop is the family name of Colin's wife' Judith. Fittingly the sign of Venus, a symbol which has come to represent women and feminine energy, is the centrepiece of the Bishop label. Exceptional old vine fruit was sourced from the famed Ebenezer sub-district at the northern tip of the Barossa Valley. Vine age 35120 years old. Yield 3 tonnes per hectare.

The wine is gorgeously fruited and inviting on the nose showing blackberry, dark cherry, vanilla and cedar characters with seductive spicy complexity. It is succulent and fleshy on the palate with terrific fruit intensity, finishing superbly long and velvety. Up front and immensely appealing.
