Since 1992, Madfish have been producing an exciting range of contemporary, cool climate wines inspired by the wild, coastal and pure characterises of Australia's South West. The wines are made by the dedicated team led by chief winemaker Janice McDonald. Black and blue berries, red currants, plum compote and roasted chestnuts mingle with coffee, cocoa and hallmark Cabernet minty earthiness to create a quite beautiful wine.

Established in 1982 and run by second generation Ed Tomlinson, this fruit driven, medium bodied wine has notes of ripe black fruits and finishes with perfect length and a wonderful texture.

Beautifully soft yet full-bodied it shows pristine varietal character impeccable balance and is simply a pleasure to drink - whether it be upon its release when it shows optimum primary fruit and robust texture or after a few years in the cellar when the classic secondary characters begin to wonderfully take control.

Winemaking Hand-picked, hand-sorted, gently de-stemmed and berry sorted. Small, separate-batch ferments. Matured for 18 months in French oak and 50% new barrels. Only the 10 finest barrels selected for the final blend.

Woodlands Cabernet Merlot is one of the regions best examples. The Watson brothers are the custodians of a family heritage in Margaret River that continues to this day. The Cabernet Merlot has attractive and complex aromas of dark berry and plum supported by well integrated vanillin oak. The palate shows similar characters with outstanding length of flavour and perfect balance. Drink now or cellar short term.

Vasse Felix produces fine Margaret River reds with great balance and style. This traditional blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon shows sweet mid-palate fruit with liquorice and spice and good tannin structure. Fantastic French oak integration enabling soft tannin complexity and a lovely length of flavour.

So take their advice with this 7 x Gold medal-winning blend! In the glass: Deep red purple. On the nose: Cassis and plum with a touch of mint, bay leaf and vanillin oak. On the palate: Shows a mouth-watering balance of racy acidity and fine tannins providing support for the layers of black fruits and varietal herb through to the long, fresh finish. Cullen, world famous for their Diana Madeline Cabernet Merlot, have introduced another Cab Merlot, a distinguished offshoot of the Langton's classified Diana Madeline. Majority Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot and touch of Petit Verdot gives the wine a luscious, bright cherry flavour with red berries playing their part. Aged in French oak, 40% of which was new, for one year. Delicious to serve with veal, lamb or beef today, but will also reward up to 10 years in the cellar.
