Aged Riesling is one of the true joys of the wine world. The variety has the ability to transform itself over a period of years from a youthful, crisp and aromatic style overflowing with lemon, lime and floral characters into a textured beauty with notes of buttered toast. Pat Tocaciu has captured this ability perfectly with his Estate Aged Riesling that is starting its journey from young exciting upstart to a soulful and beguiling wonder.

A tribute to Patrick Tocaciu, our founder, a master and lover of Riesling. A Multi award winning wine and unique style, one that is rarely seen on shelves. Grown in our northern most Coonawarra vineyard. Block 5 Aged is only made in vintages that suit its style, it is bottled soon after harvest and cellared for a minimum of 5 years prior to release. This wine showcases Rieslings natural journey from a fresh, fruity wine in its youth to a complex, textural and toasty Riesling in its age. Cellar for as many years as you can resist, it will only get better. Tasting Note: This Riesling shows intense aromas of citrus, lanolin & a distinctive toasty character. The palate is delicately layered showing lime blossom & a wonderful mouth feel that extends to a crisp finish. Winemaker’s Note: Fresh & fruity in it’s youth, now displaying the unique characteristics & distinguished flavours that a well made Riesling can. This Riesling has been cellared for 7 years before release and will live for another 20 plus. Vintage Note: We had good winter rainfall followed by a warmer than average Spring. This brought forward flowering by two weeks and lead to moderate bunch numbers with small berries. A cool Summer then allowed the vines to catch up and a slow, even ripening period followed. Overall a strong vintage with excellent cellaring potential.

Our familys passion for Riesling knows no bounds. We have two Riesling vineyards, each adding unique elements to the wine and expressing the place in which its grown. Vibrant, balanced and crisp. Tasting Notes: The aroma is intense, showing floral lime blossom, lemon sorbet and citrus freshness. The palate is well balanced, crisp and has a hint of fruit sweetness to finish. Winemaker’S Note: This Riesling is a blend of our two vineyards in Coonawarra and Wrattonbully. Wrattonbully being slightly warmer has floral notes, whereas Coonawarra has more acidity and citrus fruits. Vintage Note: 2021 was an overall standout vintage. Near perfect ripening condition and cool, mild weather kept the natural acidity of the whites fresh. Harvest decisions were precicely made and optimal balance of ripeness and acidity was achieved.

The striking 93pt Yates Chardonnay is the perfect example of well known Cabernet regions, like Coonawarra, being home to equally impressive Chardonnay. A perfumed nose combines peach and stone fruit aromas with creamy buttery and vanillin oak characters. The palate is complex, smooth and rounded with a balanced acid structure. It displays strong peach and nectarine accompanied by creamy cashew nuts from barrel fermentation and maturation. Lingering fruit flavours last well after the last sip. "Elegant and stylish, the inviting bouquet shows ripe apricot, lemon pith, nougat and roasted cashew aromas, followed by a beautifully weighted palate displaying refined texture backed by bright acidity. This is a fresh and vibrant Chardonnay crafted with minimal oak influence to ensure the delightful varietal characteristics refresh the palate. Stone fruit, honeydew melon and underlying complex barrel ferment characters create a luscious palate with balanced natural acidity which finishes with a refreshing twist of lemon.
