Glaetzer The Bishop Shiraz, Barossa Valley Bishop is the family name of Colin's wife' Judith. Fittingly the sign of Venus, a symbol which has come to represent women and feminine energy, is the centrepiece of the Bishop label. Exceptional old vine fruit was sourced from the famed Ebenezer sub-district at the northern tip of the Barossa Valley. Vine age 35120 years old. Yield 3 tonnes per hectare.

The wine is gorgeously fruited and inviting on the nose showing blackberry, dark cherry, vanilla and cedar characters with seductive spicy complexity. It is succulent and fleshy on the palate with terrific fruit intensity, finishing superbly long and velvety. Up front and immensely appealing.

Grapes for this Shiraz are sourced from our growers in the Barossa Valley. The well ripened grapes are carefully destemmed and crushed to fermenters where they are macerated in a way to minimise extraction of hard tannins. All providing a rich and generous nose and mouthfeel. This is achieved with less vigorous maceration and lower fermentation temperatures. Maturation then takes place with American and French oak before blending and bottling. The grapes for our Shiraz come from our loyal growers throughout the Barossa Valley. Soils, site and viticultural practices vary but the one common factor in these vineyards is the unmistakable generosity that shines through in the wine.

Schild Estate Old & Survivor Vine Barossa Valley Grenache 2019 The Old & Survivor Vine 2019 Barossa Valley Grenache is firmly in the red fruit register but at the darker end of the spectrum. Dark cherries and red currants are chaperoned by savoury spice. Slight creamy texture and soft tannins are offset by a bright edge. This isnt an over the top Barossa Grenache, its generous, layered and interesting without being indulgent. The fruit is sourced from two vineyards. The Kleemann Vineyard was established in 1985 at 320m asl on the Eastern Hills overlooking Rowland Flat and are now classified as Old Vines (35 years+). The second vineyard in the blend is the Three Springs. Established at 300m asl, the plot is adjacent to the original Schild family estate in Rowland Flat. The vines are 70+ years old Classified and Survivor Vines. At this altitude, the vines are much lower-yielding and, combined with the decades of growth, produce fruit of great concentration, complexity and character. Schild Estate then realises the potential of the fruit and presents it in this sumptuous 2019 cuvée.

Hand-crafted and made with minimal additions and preservatives, these are wines made of the vineyard. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness, minimally handled in the winery and fruit vibrancy is not hidden by non-essential artifact. The Four Cuttings Shiraz is an extension of our single site approach, capturing the personality and character of single vineyard sites from four iconic Barossa sub-regions - Tanunda, Koonunga, Lyndoch & Rosedale. Our aim is to harness the contrasting characters derived from the soil profile and climate variations across these four sites to present a seamless expression of Greenock Creek wine. The nose is rich with blueberry & black cherry which flow through to the palate which is framed by soft and silken tannins. As is the Greenock Creek tradition, this wine will reward patience and cellaring, while being deliciously approachable as a young wine.

The Four Cuttings Cabernet is an extension of our winemaking approach, aiming to capture the particular character of special single vineyard sites. A painstaking exploration of small vineyards across Barossa for sites that best display varietal characters akin to those of our legendary estate wines uncovered The Heidenreich vineyard at Light Pass, planted in the late 1930s. The vineyard produces consistently excellent Cabernet Sauvignon with layers of black fruit, leafy overtones and tobacco notes. As is the Greenock Creek tradition, this wine will reward patience and cellaring, while being deliciously approachable as a young wine.
