Sam Wigan started out in the wine industry by working a vintage with his father at Peter Lehmann wines before heading to Geyser Peak in California. Returning to Australia with the winemaking bug, Sams style involves letting the varietal characteristics of the grapes shine through, by using natural/wild fermentation and malolactic fermentation, with minimal additions and no finings. Having a nice meal with friends and family is one of his favourite things, so he crafts the wines to be fun, drinkable and best enjoyed with food and good company. Nitschke Block Shiraz displays rich, opulent fruit with a fantastic balance of texture. Lifted notes of greengage plums are first to emerge from what is a tightly-wound wine. There is also a warming spice element of subtle white pepper as well as some dark cherry and plum flavours.

This Grant Burge Barossa Ink Cabernet Sauvignon is intensely deep red with purple hues. The bouquet is rich with blackcurrant, mint and dark chocolate. Spinifex Esprit is a Grenache Mataro blend that has a vibrant, youthful and fresh palate driven by a tangy herb infused line of red fruit red currant, sour red plum, pomegranate and marjoram that gains warmth and depth turning to tobacco, game, cedar and darker fruit to close. Pulpy, fleshy fruit is drawn long with plum skin acids and stony tannins.

An exceptional Barossan Shiraz from the artisan cult producer, Spinifex. The Miette (mee-yet) Shiraz has a delightful balance and charm with flavours of cherry, blueberry and hints of earthy spice, held by finely structured tannins. St Hallett Faith Shiraz is one of the all time customer favourites at Dan Murphy's Ripe flavoursome concentrated Shiraz from the Barossa Valley with great mouthfeel and length of flavour with fine soft tannins. Drinks nicely now and will age well in the medium term.

Double Barrel Shiraz has a full and generous palate with a beguiling mix of sweet red fruits and dark chocolate indicative of its origins as Barossa Shiraz. Subtle toasty vanillin derives from aging in traditional French and American oak wine barrels. The careful use of aged Scotch whisky barrels for finishing has added complex nuances of almond-husks and also softened the dense tannins to yield an incredible smoothness.
