A deep crimson red which opens with the classical Margaret River nose...fresh varietal notes of bright berried fruits, briar and sea spray, followed by wafts of chocolate and mocha with subtle spiced oak aromas. A medium to full bodied palate shows cassis and Satsuma plum characteristics, leading into the sweet mid-palate depth of chocolate and mocha, finishing with defined talents. The wine is elegant and shows great length of flavour and well-structured palate line. Established in 1982 and run by second generation Ed Tomlinson, this fruit driven, medium bodied wine has notes of ripe black fruits and finishes with perfect length and a wonderful texture.

The bouquet shows great density, ripe concentrated blackcurrant, anise, black cardamom and lifted lavender with hints of black olives and plum aromas. The entry on the palate is soft and succulent whilst displaying a subtle texture with a black core of fruit including boysenberry, dark cherries and olive tapinade. The tannin and acid are seamlessly integrated from the front through to the long and lingering finish.

Grape variety - 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Oak maturation - 100% of the wine is aged in French oak barriques (20% new) for 15 months. The wine opens with mulberry, currant and blackberry with underlying complexity from bay leaf, gravel dust and subtle perfume. Palate - Full with a soft supple texture and fine tannins. Once again there are ripe fruit characters of mulberry, blackberry and boysenberry with cedar oak, bay leaf and lavender. The wine has a long soft finish. Food matches - Meat dishes, saucy pastas and cheeses. Peak drinking - Drinking well now but will develop further over the next 5 to 8 years.
