This iconic label by Yalumba has a proud history from it's first release in 1962. The Canberra District and the Rhone blend of Shiraz and Viognier have been famous bedfellows for the past few decades - for good reason. The unique terroir is harnessed wonderfully by the team at Lerida Estate at their Lake George vineyard and the result is this remarkably intense red wine. Cold soaked, co-fermented with hand plunging and then left to rest on skins for 10 days before resting in French oak for 15 months. It is no wonder flavours of freshly stewed plums, cinnamon, pepper, apricot and vanilla are simply bursting out of the glass.

This is one of the gems produced by cult winemaker Elian Da Ros, who learned the art of winemaking at the prestigious Domaine Zind Humbrecht in Alsace before taking over the family vineyard. This luscious red is a blend of half Cabernet Franc, with the rest a split between Merlot and Syrah and matured for 18 months in old oak. Drink young for the sheer enjoyment.

The Hill Block straddles the ridge running through the Chapel Hill estate. The wine was then aged for 19 months in 100% tight grained French oak. The proportion of new oak was kept low to encourage the continued expression of the characters that are unique to the vineyard site.

Black with purple hues. Aromas of blue and red fruits, black pepper, tea, sherbert, liquorice and anise. Liquid black cherries, black jelly beans, some tar and sweet, smoky tea leaf tannins. Great with duck or caramelised pork.

Domaine Asmara Private Reserve Durif is a massive, full bodied wine that is totally opaque. Outstanding tannins structure with mouth watering mixed herbs and rip dark fruits luring in the back of the palate. Well balanced flavours and oak use. It will be a great cellaring candidate for the right cellar conditions.

Domaine Asmara, located in the heart of central Victoria where the Cambrian rich soil dominates the Heathcote wine region, showcases the very best of modern Australian Shiraz and Cabernet. They produce wines just like this Reserve Shiraz 2016 and Reserve Cabernet 2014 that is both complex and flavoursome. 'Asmara' translated from Indonesian to means 'Love & Passion' - a character than is intrinsic in this boutique Shiraz.

This close-planted Mourvèdre vineyard (4545 vines per Hectare) on rich pre-Cambrian soil produced fruit of amazing complexity and length of flavour. Bright and light raspberry red in colour, the perfumed nose of ripe berry fruits, raspberries and layered with dried herbs, amaro and warm spice of garam masala. Savoury turned earth, spice, lifted whole bunch (50%) and a meaty small goods character. Medium bodied, lighter on its feet than most Mourvèdres. This wine is all about texture and fine velvet like fine tannins; palate is long, rolling and fresh.
