This is the third release of this wine drawing fruit from our Blewitt Springs vineyard sitting on sandy soil offering excellent drainage and resistance to disease and this year using Grenache from our friends at Dog Ridge. The wise old ladies from Blewitt Springs (shiraz) have teamed up with spicy Grenache from McLaren Flat producing fruit of uncommon intensity and flavour. An aromatic nose of blueberries, dark cherry fruits, floral and spice notes. Medium to full bodied, blueberry, plum and dark cherry fruits burst onto the palate. Vibrant fruit combines with notes of red flowers, cacao and layers of cooking spice. The hallmark sandy/biscuity tannins of Blewitt Spring linger on the palate.

The depth of colour alludes to the overall intensity and pedigree of this Shiraz. On the nose there is spice and a rich dark fruit purity with a lashing of toasty oak influence. Intense blackberry and dark cherry fruit flavour dominate the mid palate with a hint of white pepper and spice. The complexing oak influence melds elegantly with the wines dark fruit and dark chocolate concentration. Beautifully balanced with tremendous length of flavour, this Shiraz speaks of the provenance of the old vines at the Ingoldby Vineyard.

The brilliant 2020 Maison Eros McLaren Vale Shiraz is rich and full, showing intense plum and dark berries with elegant savoury earthy tannins that round out the mid palate. The wine finished with great balance and length. Characterised by a depth and intensity only achievable with old vine fruit. The subtle integrated oak and textural tannins will soften as the wine ages.

Name ‘Paralarva’ is essentially the younger sibling of the ‘Squid Ink’ range. Paralarvaare young squidin the planktonic stages between hatchling and subadult. It represents a style that is more about expression of fruit with a minimal influence of oak and is a wine to be enjoyed in a more youthful state. This fruit driven style has becoming more popular in recent years from all growing districts around Australia. Vineyard This Estate owned single vineyard really is the epitome of what defines one of the greatest vineyards in Australia, where the famous Black Bay of Biscay Clay soil ensures fantastic depth of colour and concentration. Positioned at about 120m above sea level and 8kms inland this North/ South facing vineyard is in the heart of McLaren Vale. We pride ourselves in sustainable viticulture practices and having true respect for the value of our vineyards and the fruit they create. Monitoring and measuring the vines is a crucial part of maintaining fruit quality of this level with a key focus being on the soil health and how this impacts the vine, the fruit and in turn the wine and the experience. The fruit for this wine is picked a little earlier to ensure a slightly lower alcohol level. Winery In the winery The Descendant of Squid Ink Shiraz fruit is treated with utmost respect, ensuring quality from start to finish. With a 2 day cold soak prior to a slow cool fermentation for gentle extraction colour, flavour and tannin extraction are closely monitored with different fermentation cap management applied accordingly. Following fermentation, the wine is then matured in a special selection of the finest 4 year old seasoned American oak Hogshead (300L) oak barrels for 9 months. Maturation 9 Months in well-seasoned 4 year old American Oak, Hogshead (300L) oak barrels. Colour Deep red with vibrant purple hues. Nose Deep dark fruits with some black olive, earthy complexity entice the senses followed by complementing dusty oak characters. Palate Fresh vibrant fruit coats the mouth, complimenting the gentle, soft furry tannins and spice that line the mouth and leave a lasting impression. Cellaring Drink now or cellar for 7+ years.

Hand picked. 7 days on skins. 24 months of maturation in 1st- and 2nd-use French oak. The flavours is still in Blewitt Springs heartland. Dark plum, black cherry, blue berry, Asian herb, baking spice, anise, chocolate, toast oak and fresh acidity. Complex, rich, round and slickly made.

A tight and complex bouquet of dried plum, fresh almond, blood plum, smoked meats, concentrated cherry, blueberry preserve, ginger, glazed prune and clove. In all pretty it’s thrilling, what greets you on the palate flows through to the palate, with a band of deep but amazingly light fruits, an ironstone searing penetration builds up and then slowly flows away, the fruit depth here is admiral and the balance is so pure that this will age quite effortlessly for an extended time.

This is old vine McLaren Vale Shiraz skillfully blended with older vine grenache. The palate is full of spice and black fruits with an alluring undertone of red fruits dervived from the significant grenache content. This is the sixth release of this multi award winning red that is sure to please everyone in the room.

Pirramimma Shiraz is full-fruited and powerful, with sweet plum and mocha along with cinnamon notes and dark chocolate which are all typical regional characters of McLaren Vale.

From the single vineyard site in the McLaren Vale comes this intensely dark crimson coloured Shiraz from the team at Paxton. Intense dark crimson in colour and equally intense flavours - this is for lovers of beautifully complex wine. It is a clear expression of its unique site.
