The Stonehaven winery was built in 1998 by Hardy’s, with a focus to express what the Limestone Coast can offer as a region. Since then the brand has relaunched back into the market with wth a refreshed look with a range of wines for every occasion.

The Author pays homage to pioneering vigneron John Riddoch (1827 - 1901). A true visionary, Riddoch is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Australian wine. An influential figure, he established the Coonawarra fruit colony in 1890 and is synonymous with the region's story. The Author represents the finest expression of the vintage. Dark red in colour, with a crimson hue and classic aromatics of ripe cassis and blackberry fruit. Vibrant blueberry and black forest fruit flavours aew well integrated with hints cedar and spicy oak from maturation in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads.Elegantly structured, fine grained tannins lead to a long and persistent finish. This has all the hallmarks of a classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and will drink well now but will reward patient cellaring for 10 to 15 years.

The remnants of an ancient seabed formed the hard-packed Limestone base which atop sits the famous Coonawarra Red Terra-Rossa. Even today the marine life can be seen with the soft rock providing a natural filter for the water pooled in the aquifer below. A millennium in creation, it is these features combined that provide almost perfect conditions for premium grapes to grow. The ocean breeze still blows from the west providing the cool nights to compliment the warm days and development of flavour for our Coonawarra wines.

Producing the Quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon was one of Jim’s life-long endeavours. His drive, passion and endless pursuit for quality were the enduring attributes to which we all aspire. Jim’s legacy can be seen in each of our wines as we strive to achieve a perfect balance of varietal and regional intensity, but with an elegance and charm which invite and entice the drinker to enjoy a second glass. Elegant yet powerful Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. Lifted aromas of blackberry and plum, dried sage, mint and tobacco with overlaid with cedar oak notes. An intense and flavour-filled palate of plums, blackberries complemented with sturdy but well balance tannins holding together a long lingering finish.

Rich varietal aromas of raspberry, liquorice and plum are combined with spicy fruit flavours in this beautiful Katnook Estate wine. The subtle vanillin oak and the distinctive underlying pepper that could only come from a Coonawarra Shiraz.

With a name that directly translates from French as 'The Soil', the Le Sol Syrah (Shiraz) pays homage to the terroir that creates this rich and evocative wine. With the trademark Gimblett Gravels stony soil, with exhibits amazing refinement and breeding while not relinquishing body and complexity.

Packed full of mint, blackcurrants, spice and cedary oak, this wine is indicative of how a great the 2004 vintage was. Drinking beautifully now.
