The world's oldest brewery, Weihenstephan, have released their limited edition Weissbier perfect for any celebration. A slightly stronger, celebration-friendly lager that exhibits those trademark German-lager aromas of herbal hops with a nice balance of full-bodied malts. There is a nice fruity zing on the back of the nose that is wonderfully displayed on the front palate. Quality hops then deliver warm and delicious notes of honey, citrus fruit and spice.

With the little money they had at the time, they began what the brewery’s fans now call the “Chouffe Story”. The 1st brew of 49 litres was produced on 27 August 1982.

This means that it is brewed within the walls of a Trappist monastery, under the control and responsibility of the community of monks, who are involved through the process of making and marketing the beer. The dark, reddish-brown Trappist beer from Westmalle contains, thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, a rich and complex taste that is characterized by malty and fruity notes with a fresh bitter finish. The monks of Westmalle have been brewing a dark Trappist beer in addition to their existing meal beer since 1856. In 1926 they adjusted the recipe and brew the beer a bit heavier by doubling the ingredients. This is how the beer got its name Dubbel, although many often simply call it Trappist. That recipe is still the basis for the Westmalle Dubbel that we know today.
