The Malleea (an aboriginal word for 'green paddock') is a very fine exapmle of the classic Australian Cabernet/Shiraz blend. The 2008 is rich, dark magenta in colour, with ripe plums, spice and vanillin oak on the nose. The palate is like a complex fruit cake with layers of fresh berries, black olives and hints of chocolate.

Heathcote Estate has quickly emerged as an icon Shiraz producer from a region that continues to show its Shiraz pedigree. The Nugan family is dedicated to showcasing the best vareitals from our finest growing regions. Dry warm sunny days with cool nights produced optimum fruit flavours. After picking, the Shiraz was crushed and softly bag pressed in traditional style to avoid the extraction of bitter tannins. The wine was fermentated in static fermenters, followed by further maturation with new and seasoned French and American oak prior to final blending.

Distinguished by its deep ruby red color with a crimson undertone, this wine exudes a sense of elegance. Brooding aromas reminiscent of plum pudding, dark cherry, black pepper, earth, and espresso intertwine seamlessly. The opulent and full-bodied palate presents flavors of blood plum conserve, black pepper, cocoa, and allspice, culminating in a finish supported by robust tannins.
