The 864 Henk Aqueduct Chardonnay carries complex aromas of struck match, white nectarine, fennel seed, and lime skin. Its palate is crystalline, and floral, with subtle mineral, toast, and vanilla bean nuances. The Aqueduct block, within Henk Vineyard, planted in 2008 on Woori Yallock’s red volcanic soils, is north-facing at 260 metres. The vines of Dijon 95 clone are farmed to yield 4.3 tonnes per hectare. Grapes are hand-picked and sorted before being pressed to French oak (20% new) as whole bunches. After fermentation, the wine rests on lees for 10 months in barrel, followed by 6 months in tank. Representing the pinnacle of winemaking at Oakridge, the 864 range are high-scoring, limited-release, single-block wines that stand out internationally as exceptional varietal examples.

A vibrant Chardonnay with lifted aromas of kaffir lime leaf, citrus pith, white nectarine and alpine mint, layered with notes of flint, ginger and toasted almonds. Subtle oak brings warmth through hints of ginger snap and spice. The palate is bright, textured and tightly coiled, with flavours of candied lime, lemon drop, grapefruit pith and juicy nectarine. A fine bead of acidity and mineral crunch carry the wine to a long, layered finish. Elegant yet powerful, this is a classic expression of 864 Chardonnay - refined, complex and built to age.

Planted in 2008, the vineyard’s red volcanic soils and cool climate produce wines of precision, purity and depth. A vibrant Chardonnay with lifted aromas of freshly squeezed lemon, citrus zest, white flowers and nougat, layered with notes of subtle flint, ginger and roasted hazelnut. The palate delivers an immediate burst of mouth-filling lemon and lime, accompanied by soft nougat and a deft touch of charred caramel. A cool, driving line of acidity cuts through the core, leaving the mouth salivating, while the texture is glass-smooth with a finish evocative of polished river stones. A classic, understated, yet powerful Aqueduct Chardonnay.

What a magnificent wine! A pioneer in the modern Australian Chardonnay stakes, the Vat 47 from the Hunter Valley has a silky bouquet of melon stone fruit and creamy oak that is followed by a palate of extraordinary balance and length. An absolute classic and will only get better with some medium term ageing.
